221 years ago, to the day, on April 7, 1803, Toussaint Louverture, an unavoidable figure in history and a universal symbol of freedom, was extinguishing at Fort de Joux, France, his soul flying to Allada, land of his ancestors. Born a slave, he rose by his intelligence and bravery to become a military leader and a first-rate revolutionary, transforming himself into "Premier of the Blacks" paving the way leading Haiti to independence. In reality, according to Hyppolite de Saint-Anthoine and Victor Schoelcher, Louverture wanted the liberation of black people from around the world!

Today, this land for which he had fought so much: Haiti, is at the mercy of gangs, burning cultural and educational places, threatening the vanishing country. Despite the involvement of the international community, it seems to be moving in circles and the country is sinking further into the abyss.

It is in this context that the team of the exhibition "Haiti-Louisiane: The Tides of Freedom" is mobilizing. Our mission: echo those heroes who fought slavery and broke the chains of oppression, in Haiti and Louisiana. After a resounding success in New Orleans, the exhibition is preparing to invest in New York.

To announce his arrival and mobilize the community, we invite you to a cocktail party on April 20, 2024 from 4-6pm at The Gentlemen's Factory.
