Signe Andrea Høgstad Kelstrup KÅRK is published by architecture students for anyone with an interest in architecture - A student run initiative, with the editorial board in Aarhus and Copenhagen. With the publication we aim to provide a mirror projecting outwards, and between each other, what there

is produced and worked on within the walls of Aarhus School of Architecture and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. The magazine is a place for exhibition as well as discussion. With contributions from students and staff, we wish to inspire and be inspired, and furthermore to hopefully learn from each other. Every issue explores a different theme. Through the reflections of academics and students associated with our institutions, we gain and create knowledge, shed lights and raise questions. Within one of three sections, theme related material is packed in one continuous collective conversation - projects, articles, interviews and speculations come together, create new perspectives, new visions. Each issue of Kårk is launched as a two- and three-dimensional dialogue between the two institutions, - magazine, exhibition, celebration.

KÅRK # 46 || DAEDALUS
WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS

Daedalus, grounded in wisdom, shapes space with care, bound by limits. But Icarus, driven by wonder, defies boundaries, soaring beyond design. His rise and fall mark the arc from aspiration to consequence—a reminder that our ambition, like light and shadow, must balance in harmony with the world.

KÅRK #46 || DAEDALUS
WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS

Daedalus, grounded in wisdom, shapes space with care, bound by limits. Yet Icarus, driven by wonder, defies boundaries, soaring beyond design. His rise and fall trace the arc from aspiration to consequence—a reminder that our ambition, like light and shadow, must find harmony with the world.

The myth symbolises the dangers of over-ambition and hubris, illustrating the tension between human aspiration and the constraints of nature or fate. Like Icarus flying too close to the sun, our wings are melting, and we too may be on the brink of a fall. We have reached a point where focusing on new ways of working within architecture, construction, and materials seems the only solution to address what is destroying both the earth and its people.

In our 46th issue, we turn our focus to new ways of working— transformation, reuse, renovation, radical sustainability, biophilic design, political architecture, degrowth strategies, and more. We explore architecture and solutions that respond to both societal and environmental challenges.

Send your submission(s) to [email protected] before the 13th of November 2024.
