It has been discovered that some whales have spindle neurons – specialised brain cells that are involved in processing emotions and helping us interact socially. But they have them already twice as long and up to three times more than humans. In my experience I would say they can read our emotions before we even know how we feel .... again, I am so grateful to have the chance to swim with them .....

I am missing the words to express how touching this moments are and how grateful I feel to have the privilege to be in the water with them. Sadly one very playfull young female was killed by the propeller of big boat some days ago. This tragedy unfortunately is just one of around 20 000 incidents every year. 🥲

Another of this magic moments with humpback whales, which makes you understand why the Maoris of New Zealand, Hawaii, Tonga, Cook Islands and Tahiti grant them the satatus of personhood and consider them as "people" like you and me.
