"I was not gifted with enormous speed on the guitar.

There were years, when I was younger, when I thought I could improve and become faster if I practiced enough. But in reality, it never happened."

Accepting that he would never be a top-level fretboard gymnast, he looked to other influential guitarists, such as Hank Marvin, the Stratocaster-loving guitarist of The Shadows, for inspiration. "In the '60s, Hank would just play a melody, and I think I come from there," he says. "I just want to play a beautiful melody!" -David Gilmour

Quite a lineup!

And the show is on! Tonight on Prof Progresso's Rock Theatre we're doing both! That means Prof Prog's Rock Theatre AND Prof Prog's Classic Prog Show. How 's that, you ask? Because I'm presenting an album that embodies BOTH the Classic Era of Prog AND the Current New releases. Jon Anderson's new band project called Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks! Jon was the iconic vocalist of the band YES (official) for decades. I'll be playing the complete album during the show this evening so get a cool beverage of your choice, a rediculously expensive set of headphones (like the ones I'm wearing) and a comfortable chair and settle into 2 hours of fantastic music! One more thing, stay with me till the end of the show because I'm going to make an important announcement! If you have contact info for Jon please have him tune in to Radio Darmstadt so he can hear the announcement himself. It's sure to put a smile on his face!
Here's what I played on the show:
01 True Messenger
02 Shine On
03 Counties and Countries
04 Build Me An Ocean
05 Still A Friend
06 Make It Right
07 Realization Part Two
08 Once Upon A Dream
09 Thank God

And now the announcement:
This eveining on the show I've issued my True Prog Award for only the 2nd time. It has gone to Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks for their album TRUE! If you missed the show you can hear the repeat broadcast tonight and tomorrow the 21st January at 2am, 8am, and 2pm CET. Also if you have comments about this album please feel free to express them in the comments.
The next Prof Prog show will be the 2nd Su. in Feb. the 9th. Till then keep on Proggin!
