Informed by years of pop culture (and sometimes above), artistic training, desperation, happiness and a vivid scale of all shades between black and white, it was finally time to collect, print, and staple all these visual ideas of accidental genius and the thoughts on the crazy, beautifully sad world we were dropped into. Like many of our generation, we embrace its core value of speed, do-it-yours
elf ethos, enthusiasm for new terrain, and the sheer fun of collaboration. Our battered dictionary lists a few meanings for the word 'illustrate', noting that it comes from the Latin 'illustris' = clear, bright, lustrous. And many of those meanings can be applied to 'i feel...', e.g. to light up, to explain or elucidate, to ornament... Yet, illustration, as we see it, is no stranger to blending techniques and styles across different media and art forms. To us, it is more than a lifelike drawing next to a written definition. Under the visual umbrella named 'i feel...' we want to take a stand for the elaborate illustration that crosses borders. We want to feature artists that bring passion and dedication to the table, regardless if they are classmates [www.klassefelten-girst.de] or friends whose work we adore. Each issue will complete the sentence 'i feel...' and open up a playground for personal interpretation. Hope you enjoy the work as much as we do!
