Sunken to join Eisenwald

We are thrilled to announce that we have officially signed with Sunken, another exceptional and driving band hailing from Denmark.

Their captivating performance and ability to combine intensity with melody has not only garnered them a loyal following, it impressed us more than one time. After witnessing and meeting the band on different ocassions, we felt that joining forces with them would be a very natural move.

Formed in 2013, and backed by one demo and two full lenghts so far, Sunken craft an intense and immersive atmosphere within their music. Their powerful live shows, coupled with hauntingly rich compositions, have established them as one of Denmark's most exciting acts. Their atmospheric black metal tunes explore themes of melancholy, loss, and the human condition, drawing listeners into a world of emotional depth and sonic complexity, a band that truly shows that you can create atmopshere while still retaining a hefty body to your work. We’re excited to see what’s next for Sunken as they embark on this new chapter.

Happy New Year 2025!

before we look ahead, we need to take a moment and look back. To take a heartfelt moment to thank all the incredible people who have supported us over the past year: whether you purchases releases, came to our Artists shows, purchased merch, discussed all things art & music with us in person, or helped in any other way. We are grateful for such a thrilling community behind us.

Our release calender of 2024 was not the fullest, but we took another moment to reduce, reform, and while we build on diversity in style - we will remain union in aesthetics and direction.

As we look ahead to 2025, we’re filled with excitement and anticipation for what’s to come, there are many releases and projects in the works to be shared in due time. While times are uncertain and rocky, be sure that dedication and passion will be driving forces once again while we start another new chapter.

Combining some of the most eccentric and unorthodox minds in NL and BE black metal, Fluisteraars have taken it upon themselves to curate an evening of musical apotheosis not many have witnessed before. Converging upon the great halls of VIERNULVIER are three malignant bands that play an essential part in the underground history of the lowlands. Right out of the gates we're met with the iconoclastic one-man band Iskandr, who set things in motion almost ten years ago through the magic sphere of Haeresis Noviomagi. Iskandr started out as an exploratory and atmospheric second-wave worshipping black metal band and, throughout the years, has grown into a multi-headed beast that’s forayed into any and all waters—curious but experienced, proud and vigorous, promising to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Fluisteraars take the stage right after, showcasing their mythical and arcane body of work like a circle of veritable grand mages. Hailing from Bennekom, Gelderland, they have continually and undividedly challenged themselves, with each new release branching out into new and outlandish territory while retaining strong and discernible elements that define them and will continue to keep them at the forefront of today’s scene. Anyone who's ever ventured beyond the realm of accessible and easy listening should witness their spectacular display of raw, folkish and unbridled power.

Unequivocally felicitous as a final nail in the coffin - none other than our own countrymen Alkerdeel: one of the most hard-wrought and genuinely abrasive black metal bands Belgium has ever produced. As they approach two decades worth of pushing their weird and avant-garde take on the genre, these gents have proven to be a veritable tour-de-force on stage time and time again. Expect nothing less than a nefarious showcase of mesmerizing grandeur and debilitating fury.

Where pain meets poetry and darkness finds its voice.

Step into the abyss with "Kohlrabenschwarz," the brainchild of former Lunar Aurora member, Constantin König. Following his time with the experimental rock band "Bald Anders," a transition towards straight black metal ensued for him. In 2019, these ideas found their form, evolving into haunting melodies and searing lyrics. After some first pre-recordings in 2022, König sought out fellow musicians, birthing the debut album, "Im finsteren Tal," recorded between April and June 2023 at Studio Five Lakes by Thomas Taube.

But Kohlrabenschwarz is more than music - it's a journey into the recesses of the mind. With raw honesty, König confronts the pain, devastation, and fear that lurk within us all. "Im finsteren Tal" serves as a visceral portrayal of mental anguish, urging listeners to confront their demons head-on.

Collaborating with metal virtuosos like Dirk Rehfus (Grabnebelfürsten) on Vocals , C.A. (Odem Arcarum, White Mantis), Enrico Enrico Pertoso (White Mantis), and Bernhard Tomm (Bald Anders), König crafts a sonic landscape that's as chilling as it is cathartic. From guttural screams to sleazy guitar riffs, each element adds depth to Kohlrabenschwarz's haunting sound.

The album's concept delves into the darkness within, drawing inspiration from poets and philosophers of old. Tracks like "Der Weg nach unten" and "Der letzte Schrei" explore themes of descent and despair, while "Am Ende der Nacht" offers a glimmer of hope in the darkest hour.

The debut album of Afsky is a cold atmospheric representative that can be clearly assigned to the DSBM genre. The doomy folk and classical music elements already appear here and there, such as the guest contribution of Amalie Bruun (Myrkur) on the nykelharpa and clean vocals - but the raw coldness is most present here.

Written at a time of frustration, sadness and, dark emotions, the lyrics lead to a haunting and harrowing exploration of the various shades of suffering, but also reflect the magnificence of nature - as eternal inspiration and shelter.

This album expresses exactly what Afsky and Sorg stand for namely: disgust and sadness. The cradle and the cornerstone that bear all the hallmarks of Afsky in their original and pristine sound.

Swiss black metal band Ungfell returns with their fourth album, "De Ghörnt“, THIS Friday via Eisenwald.

"De Ghörnt“ marks a new chapter in Ungfell's legacy, delving deep into the harrowing tales and dark myths rooted in Switzerland’s ancient landscapes. Recorded between 2020 and 2024 in Menetekel’s lair and the notorious “Crypt”— the headquarters of the Helvetic Underground Committee (H.U.C.) — this album is a culmination of years of dedicated work, crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Ungfell's mastermind, Menetekel, once again takes the helm, handling guitars, bass, synths, main vocals, and lyrics, infusing the album with his signature vision. Drummer Vâlant not only provides the thunderous percussive backbone but also yells additional vocals to this epic narrative. The album's mix, a collaboration between Karapan Darvish (Dakhma) and Menetekel, ensures that every note resonates with the haunting atmosphere that Ungfell is known for. The final mastering, completed by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Recording Studios UK, enhances the sonic depth and underlines the characteristic "Ungfell" sound.

"De Ghörnt“ is, once again, a concept album. While its predecessor dealt with the destructive consequences of a mountain village gone astray, this album delves even deeper into the mountainous regions as we follow a hunter on his way up to a glacier and into his demise. The album touches on topics that have always been central to human nature, such as ambition, greed, and hubris – all embodied by the hunter. His deeds do not go unpunished, as he is confronted by an entity, a goat-like creature which is known as „Rollibock“. The story, based on an old folk tale, is delivered in the band's native Swiss-German dialect.

Musically, the album maintains Ungfell's blend of black metal's intensity with folk influences and atmospheric elements. Traditional acoustic instruments are integrated alongside aggressive guitar riffs and fast-paced drumming, creating a varied sound. The tracks on "De Ghörnt“ feature dynamic contrasts, moving between intense black metal sections and more subdued, atmospheric moments, mirroring the themes expressed in the lyrics.

Visually, "De Ghörnt“ is brought to life by Svatohor / Matúš S. Ďurčík’s evocative album cover, which perfectly captures the album's eerie and mystical themes. Band photos by Dungeoncinth and the layout, designed by Valkenstijn in collaboration with Menetekel, further enhance the album's dark aesthetic.

"De Ghörnt“ offers a compelling blend of black metal and folklore, drawing listeners into a world shaped by nature, tales, and myth. With this release, Ungfell further mark their unique standing within the black metal genre. Be prepared –the horned beast has arisen!

With their self-titled debut, Vinsta took an interesting approach, offering an acoustic response to progressive melodic death metal. In their following albums, they skillfully integrated this acoustic style into a massive metallic sound while staying true to their roots. Now, VINSTA has settled into their creative sanctuary and further distilled the approach of their debut.
