Balair acquired the Douglas DC-8 to expand its long-haul fleet. The aircraft enabled the airline to offer transatlantic flights and other long-haul flights to Asia, as well as to carry more passengers at the same time. The exact configuration of the DC-8 at Balair varied depending on the version. The HB-IDZ shown here was a Douglas DC-8-63 that was taken over from the American airline Eastern Air Lines in May 1972. After 13 years with Balair, the aircraft was sold to UPS, which had it converted into a freighter.

...German Border Police (Bundesgrenzschutz -BGS) operated a fleet of total 23 Aérospatiale SA330J Puma from 1973 until 2008.

German Border Police was renamed in German Federal Police (Bundespolizei) back in 2005.

Aircalin is an airline homebased at Noumea, New Caledonia in the South Pacific. The long-haul fleet consist of two Airbus A330-900 Neos in this attractive colour scheme. One of these aircraft is seen here in September on arrival at Athens, Greece, presumably on a charter flight.

This Swissair Convair CV-990 is the only Swissair CV-990 aircraft with a metallic fuselage. The background to this is that the aircraft was actually supposed to be delivered to SAS - Scandinavian Airlines. However, since they leased out the aircraft to Swissair before delivery and then sold it, it received this unusual paint job. Shortly after the handover, the aircraft was painted in Swissair's standard white fuselage background colours.
