Above the Sky records was founded in the year 2000 by Tony Burt in London / UK.
The first release on the label was an import from the german DJ and Producer Mat Silver.
After the first meeting at the release party of Above the Sky's first Single at Electrowerkz in London, Mat and Tony became close friends and produced countless singles and remixes for Above the Sky and other Records Labels all over the world. They teamed up as a DJ Team on venues and clubs all over Europe and as far as the United States. Their DJ Performances and production went highly to the top of the electronic club scene and official charts appereances underlines their success.

MAT SILVER & TONY BURT
Mat Silver & Tony Burt are a German and New Zealand dance music production team, composed of Matthias Scheffler (born May 1, 1977) and Tony Burt (born October 25, 1970).
Silver's and Burt's main work has been in the trance music scene but they have also produced other varied electronic music styles. They are best known for their productions between 2000-2004.
Matthias Scheffler originates from Bickenbach, Germany while Tony Burt lives in London but is originally from Auckland, New Zealand. Since meeting while DJ’ing at Electrowerkz, London back in April 2000 on the release party of Above Sky Records first release (Mat Silver – Memories - ABOVE001) they became friends and focused on producing trance and electronic music. Mat Silver was already producing in the late 1990s under the guise of Endymion, Mat Silver, Silver & Chrome and Stoker and many other.
Tony Burt was running his own label full-time as well as a specialist online music store for trance, progressive house, techno and breakbeat music. Later he introduced ATS Digtial, which was one of the first mp3 download online stores for electronic dance music worldwide.
The label included the artists Martin Eyerer, DJ Hinx, Mat Silver, S.H.O.K.K, Ferry Corsten, Ralph Fridge, Apoptygma Berzerk, Kuffdam & Plant, Shane 54, Alphazone, Audiowarp, Hiroshi Okada, Progresia, Octagen, Mike Shiver, Menno de Jong, Pervading Call, Informers, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Airbase, Timeok, Danjo & Styles, Global Interference, Passiva, Sonicvibe and Abert Vorne.
All their production work was done in Silver's basement studio "B.Beach" – a loose translation or a play on words from the name of their home village Bickenbach, Germany.
Their remix of Shane 54 - Equinoxe 4 peaked at number 12 in the Spanish Charts when it was released in 2003. All of their original work appeared on Above the Sky Records. A label originally set up by Burt but then later A&R’ed collectively between Tony and Mat.
The harder trance sound spread throughout early 2001, including German/Swiss artists such as Flutlicht, S.H.O.K.K., Scot Project and DuMonde. S.H.O.K.K. later remixed Mat Silver vs. Tony Burt – Teardrops.
Mat Silver and Tony Burt ended working in trance production after the release of their final single ‘Waimea’ in 2004.
Mat & Tony are still close friends. Tony lives and work in New Zealand with his family and children, while Mat is living in B.Beach, Germany. They both are still into music, sound and creative work. Mat travelled the world and produced music in several genres and styles thru out the years. Both looking back to a rich history and experiences as DJ´s and Producers, while their celebrating the 20th anniversary of Above The Sky in 2020.
