We’re looking back at the images that producer and photographer Brox+1 shared with us in 2022 for the photo essay ‘Raving in Ruins’. His photos chronicle his exploration of 90’s Berlin nightlife and rave culture. His photobook, ‘Berlin Possibility’, charts space and community in Berlin amidst the chaos following the fall of the wall.

As if it had fallen from the sky, Casa Alférez rests like a foreign object amidst the forest floor of Cañada De Alféres, Mexico. The brutalist yet romantic structure resembles both a cozy cabin and a robust fortress.

Its vertical shape and lack of ground-floor windows keep the gentle interior a secret. Once inside, touches of pine wood reflect the surrounding forest and sparse decorations accentuate the rooms’ openness.

The contrasts of bright light and heavy material were captured by renowned global architecture photographer and friend , who shared his favorite views of the Alférez house.

Crisply white, airy, and perfectly curated—Shizuko and Manuel have created a space that’s simultaneously multi-sensory and soothing. Their apartment, which overlooks Mariannenplatz in Kreuzberg, functions as their home, studio, office, and showroom.

Paying attention to detail, honoring craftsmanship, and capturing identity are important to the scent designers, who’ve bottled their own sense of calm in this multipurpose space. Each room fuses their Japanese and Austrian backgrounds through small personal touches while keeping the space open and fresh.

“I love cooking and bringing people together. It is unexpected and challenging at the same time.”

Chef is no stranger to successful dining scenes and enjoys embracing the challenge of creativity in the kitchen. Feeling that something was missing, Rose decided to close her restaurant, Rose Kitchen last year. Since then, she’s reconnected with her love for hosting by opening a lab-kitchen and private dining space in the bohemian neighborhood of Bastille, which she walks to every day from her apartment in Paris’ 2nd arrondissement.

We visited Rose at both her home and kitchen as part of our editorial series, “Inside with…”, a collaboration between us and interior design company . Follow the link-in-bio to see more of Rose’s thoughtful, charming, and colorful spaces.

Not Normal. Less Ordinary.

A designer by training, Karl-Oskar Olsen launched his global career as co-founder and designer of the brand , before joining forces with three friends to start Pas Normal Studios in 2014. The name began on a t-shirt and became an embodiment of the brand’s identity within the cycling industry—something new, something less ordinary.

Olsen takes inspiration from all corners of the creative world: architecture, art, music, and fashion. He melds a classic Scandinavian approach with personal admiration for Bauhaus designers like Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, and turns to running or football for sporting influence rather than other cycling brands.

His adaptation of Mies’ “less is more” philosophy has brought sophistication, modernity, and innovation to the Danish cycling apparel that’s taking the world by storm.

“I wanted to make cycling clothes that made you feel like you were wearing a tailored suit. Made you feel special, and at the same time reflected the color palette of today and tomorrow.”
