Recently, DW journalists joined forces with university lecturers and students at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta for a 3-day event focused on Media and Information Literacy (#MIL), with a special emphasis on disinformation.
Before the event, the journalists received Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions from DW Akademie’s international trainers, equipping them with the skills to share their knowledge with lecturers. Together, they then worked directly with students, teaching them how to critically assess media and spot disinformation.
The event also included campus dialogues, where journalists, lecturers, and students came together to discuss the local impacts of disinformation, build media literacy, and foster resilience against disinformation. These discussions played a crucial role in encouraging responsible digital engagement among the younger generation.
Together, we are empowering students to become critical thinkers and informed digital citizens! 💡🌱

It's #Throwback #Thursday at Facebook DW Akademie #Asia. Today we're going back five years to a "Training of Trainers" workshop in #PhnomPenh, #Cambodia. Many of these trainers have since moved on to other jobs and responsibilities, but the topics you can see in the video are still relevant today. Thanks to all the dedicated trainers and the enthusiastic students at the Media 101 Clubs and to our partner Cambodian Center for Independent Media for helping make this #MIL training format such a resounding success. :-)
