Formerly based in Tokyo, the Australian returns as a hermit with his guitar to his hometown of Katoomba, dropping the genre-warping, blunted ballad of the year "WALK LIKE", the first single off his upcoming EP 'I gave my legs to a snake', due out 5 January 2024 on Monkeytown.
"WALK LIKE" takes full advantage of the extra room for self-reflection, ruminating on the irony of being an introvert, only to pursue a very public-facing career as a musician and performer. Frame’s trademark reverb frays at the edges of the track, throat singing, slacker vocals and rumbling drones dissolving into infinity - delivered with surprising nonchalance and wry, self-knowing humor.
The video, directed by Mahne Frame, sets his warped instrumentation against a psychedelic collage of imagery - from Australia’s majestic Blue Mountains shot by drone, to one of Frame’s ostentatious sculptures, his own make-up and more. Together, the music and visuals coalesce to immerse the listener in an contemporary aussie folklore that has never felt so tangible and pregnant with meaning - creating a story where nothing is left to chance. "Ah Oui Ah Oui" is a blazing end-of-summer thumper. Even the title gives a sense of submitting to the late summer heat and humidity, savoring those final moments of the season. Bass pressure rises like warmth from the concrete, evaporating into the evening air, with Sylvere building fragmented cowbell and a sweaty synthetic glissando into a caustic breakdown that gives way to scrappy chaos.

The release sees seven fellow club visionaries give their own twists on Catnapp’s incendiary productions, featuring edits from Diessa, Kamixlo, Lila Tirando A Violeta & Sueuga, Scratchclart, Talpah and Tufi Meme.
Alongside Scratchclart's amapiano chef-d’oeuvre of 'time on me' and the astounding 'despierta' by Catnapp and Tufi Meme passed through the particle accelerator, Diessa provides an equally British take on ‘the way back’ (feat. Modeselektor), albeit in a more amphetamine-fuelled sonic space, filtering Argentinian pop experimentalism through hi-NRG UK dance hedonism for a crunchy speed garage roller. Lila Tirando A Violeta & Sueuga’s rumbling flip of the same track revels in crackling distortion, leaning into Catnapp’s more abrasive influences.
Talpah’s edit of ‘forget’ amps up the bass pressure, Catnapp’s sugary vocals gliding atop rolling subs, while Kamixlo’s reimagining of ‘stay unsaved’ (feat. Aamourocean) shifts on a knife-edge from dreamy deep reggaeton to pummeling gabber stabs.

The final track on TRUST, 'despierta' is a collaboration between the two Argentinian artists and finds Catnapp returning to her roots, a closing of a circle - with a song where the producer sets aside one of her personal fears and sings in her native tongue for the first time in years.
'despierta' casts Catnapp and O.L.I.V.I.A. as wingless, sleepwalking fairies attracted by a magnetic darkness, drawing them into a forest and an enchanted tree that awakens nocturnal spirits.
