Der dritte Internationale Antiziganismuskongress (IAZK III) fand unter dem Thema "Die europäische Dimension des Holocaust und der Völkermord an den Roma und Sinti" in der KZ-Gedenkstätte Neuengamme statt. Im Gegensatz zu den vorherigen Konferenzen wurden diesmal die Erfahrungen und das Wissen der Roma und Sinti selbst in den Fokus gerückt und nicht mehr die akademischen Sichtweisen der Mehrheitsgesellschaft. Die Thematik des Völkermords wurde nicht nur auf die deutsche nationalsozialistische Geschichte beschränkt, sondern umfasste auch die Schicksale von Sinti und Roma in Ost- und Westeuropa.
Auf dem Kongress wurden Beiträge von geladenen Roma und Sinti aus verschiedenen europäischen Staaten präsentiert, die als die eigentlichen "Experten" ihrer Geschichte angesehen wurden. Zudem gab es Vorträge von Wissenschaftlern und Vertretern von NGO-Organisationen, die sich mit dem nationalsozialistischen Völkermord in Ost- und Westeuropa sowie dem fortgesetzten Unrecht nach 1945 beschäftigten.
Ein Schwerpunkt des Kongresses waren länderspezifische Referate von Roma und Sinti aus West-, Ost- und Südosteuropa, die Einblicke in das Verfolgungsschicksal der Roma und Sinti im Nationalsozialismus und in Kontinuitäten des Antiziganismus bis heute gaben. Das Ziel des Kongresses war eine inhaltliche Zusammenführung von Vergangenheit und Gegenwart sowie die Verdeutlichung der Schicksale von Sinti und Roma in Europa.
