Where are we heading to?
FROM A FOLLOWER: The Gambia public transport buses have recently inflated their fares. Kombo to Soma is now at D130 and from Kombo to Basse is now at D375. When I asked why the increment, they said it is due to the pandemic and I thought maybe they would reduce the capacity of the bus so everyone could sit comfortably and safe and also observe social distancing. But to my surprise, the bus was full to capacity and no social distancing observed.
Furthermore, a lot of money was levied on our luggage and even to take our luggage up, we had to pay someone to do it.
At the bus station in Brikama, there were no hand sanitizer, water or soap for us to wash our hands before entering the bus. We were packed inside like sardines.
This is really sad when other commercial vehicles are regularly stopped by the Police for ignoring coronavirus safety guidelines.
And one thing I forgot to mention: The GTSC drivers and conductors have no respect for customers. No regard for customer service!
