amazing piece of 1872 history (colorized Baker, 2006)

(unknown photographer, 1872. Colourization modern)

Top Himalayan Master Da Dop's great-great grandfather, M'ho Dop.
Middle: Datsum Dop, HMDD's great-uncle (looks like Stan Mikita).
Bottom: unknown novice/initiate.

It is claimed HM M'ho Dop was over 180 years old at the time the photograph was taken. (said to be born of the on the 10th day of 10th month of the Earth-Dragon year, which auspiciously happened to be Guru Rinpoche Day. That could only be year 1688 in the western Gregorian calendar)

Likely taken by a member of the ill-fated 1870 Tomlinson Survey, the original 8" X 10" platinum emulsion negative was evidently passed down thru the family of one of the porters, and only brought to light during 2002's spectacularly more successful Baker Expedition. It spent several months in restoration at the Royal College, thanks to the experts and wonderful financial assistance from The Journal of Ontological Reification and DzogVerlag GmbH.

DzogVerlag GmbH - Our Humble Beginnings

Founded in 1975 by the Eliade and Guenther families, award-winning DzogVerlag has ever since been headquartered near that Franconian gem of a city, Rothenburg ob der Tauber. They have specialized in two things: publishing old (and even ancient) psychology texts that have been difficult to source, and in some cases, only rumoured to exist. The second thrust of their activity has been to bring the texts as widely and affordably as possible into the public realm. Supported by an international network of academicians and translators, as well as a few charlatans and other exceptional beings, in recent years the still-private publisher has stepped up its output with a wide range of ancient asian ta***ic texts brought to light of day by such experts as Kristof Miltz, Alexandru Eliade, twin sisters Felicia Guenther & Brunhilde Guenther-Griswold, Ricardo Hippe’ and Mac Enna.
