This year, we celebrated my birthday back in Bangladesh during our long vacation. When we finally got back home, I was surprised to see my birthday gifts waiting for me on our living room coffee table. Of course, I was happy to receive them, but what really overwhelmed me was one particular thought.

A friend of mine had remembered something I casually mentioned months ago—how upset I was about losing my two-year-old monstera. It was just a random conversation, nothing serious, but she remembered. And for my birthday, she got me a baby monstera!

It’s honestly the best feeling when people listen to you, not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to. That small realization made me so happy.

I really missed that about my people back home.

Such a nice gesture from our friend 💕

We were supposed to leave for our journey the next day and it was our last get together before a long vacation. So our friend baked this ‘sourdough bread’ for us so that we have something to eat during our journey 🥰

Our Gingerbread houses 🏘️

Our friends invited us to spend an evening making these beautiful Gingerbread houses with them. In Germany, these breads are called "lebkuchen," and they are really sought-after during the Winter season. Special spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cloves are used to make this type of bread. When we mixed up all those spices with flour and butter and started to stir, it created such a pleasant smell around the house that reminded me of my festive childhood days 😇

The fun part started after finishing baking the bread! We made glues with sugar icing and kept building our houses with those edible hot glues. Then we started decorating them with different types of wholesome ornaments and see how beautiful they ended up with 😍

This was our second attempt at mushroom hunting! And we were not disappointed at all. We picked so many mushrooms that our friends also admitted they'd never gathered these many before 😄
And they decided to make a proper German meal for us 😍
