Bruce Fein, international lawyer for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has questioned the ruling of Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja for denying his client bail on Tuesday 19th of March 2024. Bruce who also act as the international spokesman for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu faults Binta Nyako decision and beloved she acted under external pressure.

Fein released a statement on Tuesday titled โ€˜Justice Binta Nyako Archnemesis of Justiceโ€™ where he described Bintaโ€™s ruling as โ€œunprincipledโ€ and โ€œoutrageousโ€, pointing out that the ruling was in contempt of the Nigeria Supreme Court ruling of December.

Culled from his statement titled โ€˜Justice Binta Nyako Archnemesis of Justiceโ€™, Fein pointed out that โ€œNigerian Supreme Court Justice Emmanul Akomaye Agimโ€™s opinion on December 15, 2023, page 12, concludes in no uncertain terms: โ€˜In light of the foregoing [governmentโ€™s attempted military assassination of Nnamdi Kanu in 2017 which caused him to flee], the trial court, i.e., Binta Nyako, acted unfairly and without rational and legally justifiable basis by its decisions revoking respondentโ€™s [Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s] bail.โ€™

โ€œEven a layperson could understand the Supreme Court Justiceโ€™s finding and conclusion. Yet Justice Binta Nyako chose insubordination in again denying Mr. Kanu bailโ€”probably on orders from the Minister of Justice.โ€ Fein added.

Binta Nyako had put the whole nation in shock and placed the Nigeria judiciary system in a mockery position after going against the Supreme Courtโ€™s ruling in December which faulted her earlier dismissal of bail application for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In an act many see as โ€˜cowardiceโ€™, the Supreme Court had refused to take the responsibility of making the ultimate decision of allowing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu out of the DSS dungeon, but rather refer the case back the lower court for the bail application to be readdressed efore trial.

Quoting from his released statement, Fein said โ€œThere may be more outrageous and unprincipled decisions in the history of the Nigerian judiciary than Federal High Court Justice Binta Nyakoโ€™s March 19, 2024, arbitrary decree denying Nnamdi Kanu bail in flagrant contempt of the Nigerian Supreme Court, but if there are, they do not readily come to mind.โ€
He advised Mazi Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s legal team headed by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor to act against Justice Nyako to get her fined and removed from the case for โ€œinsubordinationโ€.

Fein directed that, โ€œNnamdi Kanuโ€™s Nigerian lawyers should move the Nigerian Supreme Court to hold the Federal High Court Justice in contempt of court, impose a fine for her insubordination, and order her removal from Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s case for an unconstitutional lack of independence or impartiality.โ€

โ€œIt is obvious to anyone who has not been somnolent since Mr. Kanu was kidnapped, tortured, and extraordinarily renditioned by the Nigerian government from Nairobi to Abuja in June 2021 that Justice Nyako is a pliable tool of Nigeriaโ€™s army of prosecutors.โ€ Fein added

Speaking further on the case as he expressed his shock and disbelief on Binta Nyakoโ€™s ruling, Fein insisted that, โ€œThe evidentiary and legal case against Mr. Kanu is completely contrived. That is why the prosecution has delayed for nearly three years to disclose even a crumb of admissible evidence of Mr. Kanuโ€™s alleged criminalityโ€”notwithstanding the enormous manpower and financial resources the Nigerian government possesses, legally or illegally.

โ€œArticle 36 of Nigeriaโ€™s Constitution mandates impartial and independent courts and criminal trials within a reasonable time. Justice Nyakoโ€™s court is unconstitutional because it has exhibited neither impartiality nor independence in Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s case.

โ€œSunshine on what has been going on behind the scenes between Nyako and the Minister of Justice would be proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Further, detaining Nnamdi Kanu in solitary confinement by the DSS for nearly three years without submission of any incriminating admissible evidence and without open access to lawyers despite the governmentโ€™s monumental prosecutorial resources is unreasonable by any civilized legal yardstick.
โ€œMr. Kanu has suffered years of excruciating punishment without a trialโ€”tantamount to โ€œsentence first, verdict afterwards,โ€ the tyranny of brutish, odious courts.โ€

โ€œIf justice prevailed in Nigeria, Binta Nyako would be on criminal trial before Nnamdi Kanu, not vice versa. Her name should live in judicial infamy. Let the Nigerian Supreme Court be done with her,โ€ he added.

Gowon: The Igbo Nation He never saw!

This morning I received a call inviting me for a meeting in one of the hotels around town. I tried finding out who the person was and the purpose for the meeting, the voice I heard at the other end of the phone very edifying to my ears and would want to hear it over and over again.

Are you Jarlath Opara? Yes I am, I replied. I read your piece on Gowon: "Before you say goodbye" and would like us to have a conversation around it. For seconds I couldnt alter a word and my breath in palpitation mode.

It took the voice of the caller to nudge me into consciousness. Within those seconds which were like eternity, my mind crisscrossed through so many things. It was then I realised how far the brain of a human being can process multiple of thoughts within a split second.

Of course I agreed to meet with her ,even when my mind wasn't settled about the real intention of the caller.

That write up "Gowon: Before you say goodbye" Had already received wide circulation. Many have either called or sent me email commenting and commending it. To some I should do a part 2 of it, linking whatever that is happening to Plateau State as a dire consequence of the Gowon' roles in the Nigeria/ Biafra war.

So, at this point I wasn't sure if the caller was one of the admirers of the piece or one that would unleash a scorpion whip on me for the write up or worse still was mere hiding behind the piece to perpetrate her hideous intention.

Either ways I was poised to meet with her and the tell the story thereafter if alive.

Around 12noon I got to the hotel for the meeting. I was asked to meet with a certain receptionist who would bring me up, to the room for the meeting. Very scary scenario anyway. If I had my way I would have backed off . But at that point it would obviously smack cowardice to back off. Whatever happens, I was ready to contend with it , I thumped my heart as I followed the receptionist like a lamb to the room.

As if our movement was monitored, immediately we got to the door, it opened seemlessly .Standing in front of me was this Rev. Sr. In her late forties. She wore a m***i with a white veil on her head. Her smile which exposed her white teeth relaxed my already intensed mind. At least her disposition didn't from my assessment portray deviousness. She ushered me in and bidded the receptionist goodbye.

Stepping into the room, the interior arrangement, the coziness and the cute ambience it exuded, very awesome. Your are welcome Mr. Jarlath.

Make your self comfortable as we wait for others . At this point, I realised it wasn't going to be a twosome meeting, but a much more expanded one.

Within fifteen minutes three men walked in, distrupting the Nigeria/ Biafra war narration my attention was glued to. One Benue man, one Jos man and the other one from Taraba. By the way Sr is from Anambra state. Is that Jarlath? One of the men enquired from Sr. She answered in the affirmative. We exchanged pleasantries, shared some juice wine, as we discussed the reason for the meeting which Sr. facilitated.

Would you in retrospect join the Hausa Fulani to unleash such genocidal massacre on the Igbo? This was a very audacious question from Sr to the three young men at the middle of our discussion. It was later that I discovered that she actually was doing an international funded post Nigeria/ Biafra war assessment and wanted an honest assessment from these three tribes that played major roles in the war who from statistics are as marginalised as the Igbos.

From what is presently happening in Nigeria, the dynamics of political power play, the distribution of national cake and those under the pains of fulani insurgency, one wouldn't count these three states out. They have suffered in greater measure blood shedding from the knifes and arrows of the Fulanis who over fifty years ago used them as wiling claws to fight the Igbos unjustly.

Presently Plateau isn't breathing fresh air. The rate of killing amongst the Fulani and the Christians are gory and disheartening. Same, during the tenure of Governor Ortom was the reality of Benue people. Taraba State of course are not spared.

Those they eat in one plate, drank from one glass, danced and clinked glasses over the fall and decimation of Igbo race have turned to feast on them .

What would be the feeling of Gen Gowon, watching his people hacked down in cold blood by same people he led to war against the Igbo? Could it be a case of the chicken has come home to roost and the evil that men do lives and stares them at the face?

Of all that were discussed and the robust critical ventilation of thoughts and concerns, what left me and Sr. with tearful eyes was the descriptions of the Igbo race by those three men.

"Until the Igbos begin to see themselves in such an illumined light of fearfully made, resourcefully designed, invincibly and irrepressibly calibrated, they would continue to get dwarfed by the psychology of the post civil war defeat of being second class. In reality they are the first class citizens. They make things happen, very ingenious and "creatively wizardry".

According to them, the day the Igbo will realise and awaken to the realities of who they are and their pivotal position in making Nigeria great and maximally deplore it, the rest of the tribes would know how vulnerable they are without them.

"No tribe would go through what Igbo tribe went through over fifty years ago and survives it , a near annihilation scenario and still very impressively relevant in the scheme of things, in same country that cut their legs, their hands and their intestines, thinking they would die".

The man from Plateau said amidst deep silence and tears on almost all our eyes " I wish Gen. Gowon would listen to this call to apologise to the Igbos for the curelty of the war that battered them and cut short the life of many young people who probably would have today become the messiah we are all looking for.

Rising from that meeting and listening to those three men speak, it became very clear how blinded Gen. Gowon was as it concerns the real stuff the Igbos were made.

What manner of a tribe would rise so rapidly and became the fear of others after going through what they went through?

What tribe would go back to where their properties were confiscated, with just a paltry sum, rose to become dominant in number and in wealth? Creating panic and self insecurity among the seeming Victors?

Sadly the Igbo have not come to terms with the reality of who they are. Their destiny, their innate giftings from Chukwuokike, re-creating quality of such gifts wherever they find themselves, porous, arid, dry, sandy etc. A tribe that doesn't rely on circumstances to survive, from inside they blossom, making an unfavourable situation very profitable.

Until the rest of Nigeria realise this awesome potential of the Igbo tribe, they will continue to grapple, looking for socio political and economic stability in vain.

If Gowon had seen this about the Igbo race, may be he wouldn't have allowed his claws to be used to fight who "Chukwuokike" had blessed.

To those who were both accessory before and after the fact in this generational genocide against the Igbo race, you will collect yours one after the other soon.

RE: THE CHINASA NWORU INTERVIEW. A MISCHARACTERIZATION OF FACTS.

By Castro Nkume.

Coordinator IPOB - ISRAEL

We are appalled at the misleading and grossly misrepresentation of facts by Chinasa Nworu in his recent interview granted to Radio Biafra and recycled on various online news blogs.

In the said interview, Mazi Nworu had among other things, accused the government of Israel of their refusal to grant our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, of his asylum claims in the country. Please be informed that nothing can be farther from the truth as the interview was an exercise in mischaracterization and hence it has become of the imperatives not only to set the records straight but also to puncture holes into his false claims.

It is to be recalled Nnamdi Kanu upon his arrival into the state of Israel after the bloodbath and attempt on his life by the Nigerian Army, was accorded the respect and privileges befitting his status as a high profile nationalist and leader of struggle for the emancipation of his people by the receiving state. While here, Mazi graced quite a number of symposia and seminars organized by various segments of the Israeli society including hundreds of her older citizens who lived through the unfortunate Nigeria-Biafran war inside the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Mazi Kanu was not just guest speaker at various events organized here but was also courted by Israeli press where he granted dozens of interviews both to the print as well as electronic media. The Press were not alone, Mazi was also a visitor to various international organizations and institutions including the Tel Aviv University, United Nations office on HaShimonaim Street and the Amnesty International among others..

His stay in Israel however brief, was action-packed and received widespread publications.. It then flies in the face of common sense, that such a high profile figure whose actions and activities made international headlines would be denied asylum for whatever reasons in contravention of the spirits and letters of the United Nation's convention 51 on Refugee and Asylum seekers. A fact made more farcical by the fact that the state of Israel is home and refuge to nearly a hundred thousand refugees and asylum seekers fleeing wars and repressive governments of their home state among which as Biafrans. How Chinasa reached his uninformed conclusion is not only deeply disturbing but laughable. Interestingly, our leader was even billed to address the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, but had to cancel the appointment at the last minute so as not to interfere in their election billed for that same month.

As far as we are concerned, Israel is the only country whose leader has openly called out the double standard and conscience of the world on matters concerning the ongoing suppression and oppression ongoing in Biafraland in recent times, hence we cannot afford to remain indifferent while such malicious lies are bandied around. As we speak, there are IPOB agitators in their hundreds who are currently enjoying the protection of Israel and not forgetting the part Israel played during the mindless and unconscionable Biafran genocide by way of providing relief materials as well as medicine to the children programmed for annihilation by the Nigerian government.

The world understands our leader to be one implacable and irrepressible spirit who cannot be caged however, tempting the offer. Not for him the comfort zone synonymous with the corrupt Nigeria political class addicted to their frivolities while their people languish in squalor. A classic example was the attempt to gag him by the kangaroo orders of the judge who granted him bail moment before the assault on his home.

Records show Mazi Kanu was already in the process when he left Israel in pursuit of the burning Biafran dream. Interestingly, we are not forgetting the fact that his travel documents were confiscated by the Nigerian authority yet he effortlessly made it back to Britain. There is no way this seamless process could have been possible without the blessings of the authorities in Israel bearing in mind the process through which he arrived here.

We at the IPOB Israel, understand Mr Nworu's passion and do share in his sentiments, hence, our eagerness to overlook his apparent lack of tact. Unfortunately he cannot afford to be more Catholic than the Pope as he does not reside in the state of Israel. The logical thing to do was to request a detailed explanation of Mazi engagements while here and we would do so well to furnish him with all the details.

Finally and for clarity purposes, may we remind Mazi Nworu once again that not even the allure and security of Britain where our leader also double as a citizen could keep this contemporary of Che Guevara trapped in a place as we well aware that his abducted and rendition back to Nigeria did not occur in Britain but in far away Kenya. Should he or anybody desire to know more, they should not hesitate to contact the Coordinator of IPOB in Israel.
