A central question question to Jewish identity is often linked to Zionism. Are you a Zionist or are you not, if you are what type of Zionism do you ascribe yourself to?

As someone who did Alyiah (moved from their local community to Israel) I was curious to know what Iky thought about it 👇

"I don't think I'm a fanatic of socialism[...]I've read Adam Smith, I even wrote a lot about Hayek. And I think that they themselves have good ideas[...]I just think that nowadays it just clearly isn't compatible with the nice ideas that we all have. If there ever was a time we could prove it wrong it's now, considering that during the pandemic when most people's lives have become worse the richest in the world have seen their riches grow by a trillion dollars."

⌨️Writing is a big part of the daily life of the policy analyst. At first writing is emotional, with unclear arguments, gradually it becomes more structured and professional. But somewhere down the road, anyone who writes will be happy to establish a unique style that appeals to the reader. I asked Kadri how she developed her own style 👇

In the first episode I talk to François Lafond, Special Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs in the government of North Macedonia.

📍According to François, one of the most important things in his job is to remain neutral, formulate your advice as if you would have to make the decision, extract yourself from the situation.

📍He thinks that the European Union's efficiency can be improved. For example by reducing the number of Commissioners or giving the Parliament the possibility to set its own agenda.

📍One of the best features of teaching is having to systematise the knowledge and experience you already posses. Students have less inhibitions to be provocative as they are not affected by their professional life.

Several months ago, I began the journey of creating my first podcast. I wanted to make something that would shed light on what motivates the people in political thinking. In interviews, we usually don't hear so much about why they got into the field in the first place. And I decided to ask.

I hope this podcast will not only serve students like myself who are trying to understand what they should do next, but also people that are in and outside the field and are curious to know what goes on in the minds of ministry advisers, think tank directors, activists, city councillors and policy experts.

For the first season, I have chosen to interview people that have made an impression on me during our work together, while I was growing up or simply when we hung out together.

Every two weeks, a new episode will come out for a total of a six episode season. Stay tuned! The first one is coming out on Tuesday at 10:00 AM CET.
