The PIA award in the diorama category at SMC went to Markus Eriksson for his outstanding portrayal of a moment from the end of the war, fittingly titled "Wasted years". The terrain, vehicles, figures and overall atmosphere of this diorama captivated us. We have been following Markus' work for a long time and it was an absolute pleasure to meet him and to give him the award with sincere congratulations on behalf of the whole jury. Bravo...

A few days ago we showed you who was this year's PIA award winner at the SMC show. You know the names, but what masterpieces did they actually succeed with? Let's take it one by one.

In the bust category PIA won with fantastic Skijäger by Michael Lee. Note the very realistic painting of the worn wood on the skis, the very realistic skin tone and fine painting of the face, as well as all the other accessories of the outfit such as leather and canvas items. Also worthy of note is the excellent bluing on the MP40 submachine gun. A true masterpiece and it was an honor to finally meet you in person, Michael!

Now when the biggest SMC craziness has calmed down, we can enjoy some real gems and extraordinary PIA award-winning works. On behalf of the jury, allow me to present to you the winners of the three categories that were awarded in Holland. And be sure that the competition was really high!

Yeah, we've started by showing you samples from the new issue of Scale it! a little backwards, right? First, the almost finished vehicle and the figures... So far, our work has been known mainly thanks to publications focused on figure painting. However, with the second issue of Scale it! this will change! From now on, with each new issue we will explore the fascinating world of military vehicles together with faithfully re-enacted scenes illustrating....

We are actually having a lot of fun skipping from many different subjects. It's like living several lives at once, taking several forays into history, and being drawn into the stories of dozens of ventures at once.

One of them is the story of Easy Company in Normandy. And yes, this beauty won't be missed in that journey either!
