Wenceslas Square and Statue of St. Wenceslas

In this historical photo you can enjoy the bustle of Wenceslas Square at the end of the nineteenth century. There are all kinds of carriages and horse tramways, as well as pedestrians getting in the way.
What you won't find here yet, however, is the Statue of St. Wenceslas, which was only unveiled in 1913. As "Lidové noviny" reported at the time, "The slow lifting of the statue was watched by a large audience and the scene was even cinematographed."
