The Golden Gr**go Chronicles is a monthly newsletter, begun in 2008, about life in Latin America in general and Costa Rica in particular as seen through the experiences of a U.S. ex-patriot who’s had the good fortune to live his retirement there since September 2008. The term “Golden” relates both to being lucky for having choosing Costa Rica and also for being there in retirement or ‘the golden y

ears’. Each edition has feature articles on local culture and the Costa Rican living experience. Included are the newsletter are sections on: 1) Broken News, "all the news that's fit to reprint", 2) Rumble Talk - stories about living on the Pacific Rim, 3) one to three feature articles, 4) a section called What’s-in-a-Word that comments on the nuances of the Spanish and English languages and 5) a section called the ROMEO Corner (Retired Old Men Eating Out) where local and regional restaurants are reviewed. The newsletter is free, non-political and non-commercial. The intent is to provide an entertaining look at living in Costa Rica while providing interesting background information on the the country.
