OPGW fiber optic cable, Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire (also known as optical fiber composite overhead ground wire). The optical fiber placed in the overhead high-voltage power transmission lines in the ground, used to form the optical fiber communication network transmission lines, this form of both ground and communications functions, commonly known as OPGW fiber optic cable.
The applicable features of OPGW are:
(1) high-voltage lines over 110kv, span greater (usually more than 250M);
(2) easy to maintain, easy to solve for the problem of line crossing, and its mechanical characteristics can meet the line span;
(3) The outer layer of OPGW is metal armor, which has no effect on high-voltage electric erosion and degradation;
(4) OPGW must be powered off during construction and have a large power loss. Therefore, OPGW should be used in the newly-built 110kV and above high voltage lines.
(5) OPGW performance indicators, the greater the short-circuit current, the more need to use a good conductor armored, the corresponding reduction in tensile strength, and in the case of a certain tensile strength, to increase the short-circuit current capacity, only increased Metal cross-sectional area, resulting in increased cable diameter and weight, so that the strength of the line tower put forward a safety issue.
