About Nomfluence & The Author

Rachel Gouk is a writer, photographer and food and beverage consultant based in Shanghai, China. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Rachel has been working in the media industry across Chinese, English, and cross-cultural platforms in Shanghai since 2011.

Leaving traditional media in 2018, Rachel founded Nomfluence, a platform in which she could share her views, experiences, and knowledge about the food and drink industry. The platform covers news, new openings, city guides, hotels, and industry related columns.

Rachel’s background enables her to offer an international view of food and lifestyle. She maintains a keen knowledge of the industry from both the consumer and business perspective by keeping a close watch on industry trends and by being informed of customer habits. Her broad and diverse personal social circle covers major editor-in-chiefs in Chinese and English platforms, renowned chefs, and other industry leaders.
