The Long Ballad
Episode 1
In the woods on the outskirts, a heroic woman flees on horseback. Her eyebrows are full of tenacity. Even if she flees to the corner of the cliff, she has no fear in her eyes. Lan Wang Ji refuses to let Wei Wu Xian carry him and slowly walks off with his injured leg. Wei Wu Xian feels bad for him and uses one of his charms to talk to Wen Qing. He asks her if it is possible for her to find a way to help Lan Wang Ji’s injuries. Wen Qing then makes the entire group stop to take a break.
As the group rests, Wei Wu Xian thanks Wen Qing for her kindness and offers to get Lan Wang Ji water. As he is getting water, he glances worriedly towards Wen Qing since he knows that he might get her trouble. But Wen Qing ignores him. Wen Chao comes by to warn Wen Qing that he knows what she is doing and threatens her to know her place for Wen Ning’s sake.
After arriving at Mt. Muxi, Wang Ling Jiao instructs the disciples to find the cave where to beast is hiding. On the side, Wei Wu Xian asks Jiang Cheng who she is and Jiang Cheng replies that she is Wen Chao’s mistress. Wen Qing then comes to tell Wen Chao and Wang Ling Jiao that they’ve searched everywhere and there is no cave. Wang Ling Jiao badmouths Wen Qing in front of the disciples. This makes Wei Wu Xian angry and he uses his talisman to find the cave, which had been hidden behind a cloud of thick fog.
As they enter the cave, Mian Mian almost falls down a cliff, but she is saved by Jin Zi Xuan. However, her accident causes some noise which angers Wen Chao. He tries to whip Mian Mian, but Jin Zi Xuan blocks the attack for her. He angrily conronts Wen Chao for his true intentions for bringing all of the disciples together here because they don’t have their swords and cannot defend themselves. Wen Chao only tells him to do as he is told.
The group then come across a bottomless pit and Wen Chao is certain that the beast is there. He orders the disciples to all descend, but they all refuse. Wei Wu Xian tells Wen Chao that it is too dangerous for them to go without knowing how deep it is what kind of monster is lurking below. However, Wen Chao just ignores him and pushes him down into the pit.
Wei Wu Xian crashes into the bottomless put with minor injuries and the other disciples slowly descend via ropes after him. Lan Wang Ji is the first to come down and he rushes to help Wei Wu Xian up. Jiang Cheng and Jin Zi Xuan also come down. Wei Wu Xian jokingly asks if they were also kicked down, but Jiang Cheng says they all came down to make sure he didn’t get eaten by the monster. When Wei Wu Xian sees Jin Zi Xuan, he questions if he was also worried about him since he came down, too. But Jin Zi Xuan brushes him off and says it’s better to fight the monster than be with Wen Chao and Wang Ling Jiao. Their conversation is cut short when Wen Chao shouts from the top of the cliff to see where they are, but the group ignores him and walks away.
The group makes their way to a huge underground lake. As they contemplate what their next step is, Lan Wang Ji comments that something seems wrong and Wei Wu Xian uses his talismans to try to see if he can see anything, but it’s useless. Wen Chao then comes down with the Qishan Wen Sect’s disciples. He believes the beast is lurking in the water and tells his men to pick someone to use as bait. Wang Ling Jiao suggests using Mian Mian, but Jin Zi Xuan and Lan Wang Ji both block her from Wen Chao’s men. This angers Wen Chao and a fight ensues between the disciples.
During the fight, Wei Wu Xian approaches Wen Chao and recites a line from the Qishan Wen Clan’s rules about the punishment of those who do evil, but Wen Chao doesn’t recognize it and tells Wei Wu Xian that he is spouting nonsense. This amuses Wei Wu Xian who then says that Wen Chao just insulted his own clan’s rules and that the rule was established by Wen Mao, the founder of the Qishan Wen Clan. This angers Wen Chao and he quickly tries to fight Wei Wu Xian, but Wei Wu Xian is able to subdue him and takes him captive.
As the two sides stop fighting, the beast starts to awaken, and it turns out that Wei Wu Xian and Wen Chao are standing on it. Everyone starts to get scared and Lan Wang Ji says that its sight is bad so they should not move and act rashly. But Wen Chao is unable to endure it and shouts for the Qishan Wen Sect disciples to help him. The Qishan Wen Sect’s disciples then start attack it, angering the beast, which then starts attacking them.
In the midst of the fighting, Wang Ling Jiao gets two Qishan Sect members to capture Mian Mian as she tries to brand her face. But Wei Wu Xian intercepts and injures Wang Ling Jiao in the process, but he also gets injured in process.
Wen Chao then orders the Qishan Wen Sect members to retreat. As they make their way to the top, he makes his men cut the ropes so that the other disciples aren’t able to escape. Wen Qing tries to stop him, but she is dragged away. Wen Chao then orders his men to also block the entrance to the cave to trap the other disciples inside.
Down below, Wei Wu Xian and the others are trying to figure out a way to get out. Lan Wang Ji makes a suggestion that they go back to the pond. He noticed that there were maple leaves, which don’t belong on the cave, near the pond when they were fighting the monster. He guesses that there must be another exit near the pond. But Jiang Cheng and Jin Zi Xuan don’t agree and think it’s too dangerous. However, Wei Wu Xian agrees with Lan Wang Ji and says that it’s better than waiting for the other sects to come and find them.
Back at the pond, Wei Wu Xian and other disciples keep their distance from the beast while Jiang Cheng goes first into the pond to find the exit out. However, when Jiang Cheng comes back up, the beast notices him. But Wei Wu Xian uses his magic to create a fire and distracts the beast. Jiang Cheng then tells the disciples that there is an exit underneath the water that they can escape from. Wei Wu Xian then tells the other disciples to quickly follow Jiang Cheng while he stays behind to distract the beast.
As the disciples are escaping, Jiang Cheng yells for Wei Wu Xian to hurry and come, but he says he will come soon. Lan Wang Ji also decides to stay and help Wei Wu Xian distract the monster. However, his injuries flare up and he is unable to fight. Jiang Cheng tries to come back to help them, but is pulled away by Jin Zi Xuan. Wei Wu Xian then yells at Jiang Cheng that he needs to find someone to come save them. Jiang Cheng, Jin Zi Xuan, and the other disciples escape, while Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji take refuge in a hidden part of the cave to escape from the beast.
The coast is clear and the beast leaves. Wei Wu Xian then uses the chance to tend to Lan Wang Ji’s injury. He finds wood, but needs a rope to help tie the wood to Lan Wang Ji’s leg. He then quickly grabs Lan Wang Ji’s headband to tie the wood. Lan Wang Ji is resistant, but Wei Wu Xian tells him that his leg injury is more important to worry about.
However, when Wei Wu Xian sees how tired Lan Wang Ji looks, he realizes he needs to find a way to get the stale blood out of Lan Wang Ji. He suggests the two take off their clothes and he immediately starts to undress. Lan Wang Ji is adamantly against the idea and tries to fight him off when Wei Wu Xian tries to take his clothes. This angers Lan Wang Ji to the point where he spits out blood, which turns out to be the stale blood. Wei Wu Xian then asks Lan Wang Ji feels better, to which Lan Wang Ji thanks him.
Wei Wu Xian then uses the medicine that Wen Ning gave him earlier on Lan Wang Ji’s wounds. But as he is putting it onto Lan Wang Ji’s wounds, Lan Wang Ji also grabs some and puts it onto Wei Wu Xian’s wounds.
As the two carry on a conversation, Wei Wu Xian casually says that soon the Gusu Lan and Yunmeng Jiang Sect will arrive to save them. However, Lan Wang Ji then reveals to him that the Gusu Lan Sect was burned down and that Lan Qi Ren is heavily injured and Lan Xi Chen has gone missing. Wei Wu Xian tries to comfort him, but as he is talking Lan Wang Ji falls asleep.
Episode 14
Lan Wang Ji wakes up and realizes that his headband is back on his head. Wei Wu Xian, who is sitting by the fire, tells him that he put it back on. He also tells him that he went back to the pond to try to find the exit that Jiang Cheng found, but can no longer find it. He thinks the beast blocked it and says they need to find another way out, which might means they need to fight against the beast again.
Lan Wang Ji then asks Wei Wu Xian if he noticed what the beast resembles. Wei Wu Xian doesn’t catch on to his words and thinks the beast is just a huge turtle. However, Lan Wang Ji reveals that he thinks the beast is the same one that Xue Chong Hai controlled, Slaughter Xuan Wu. The two then discuss how they are going to deal with it.
The two return to the pond to grab as many weapons as they can from the previous battle. They then bring it back to their hideout and dissemble the weapons to use to fight against Slaughter Xuan Wu. During their preparation, Lan Wang Ji comments that they can use the Gusu Lan Killer String technique to kill Slaughter Xuan Wu, however it must be from within it. Wei Wu Xian thinks that with his injuries, the attack wouldn’t be effective. So, he suggestions a plan. He will enter Slaughter Xuan Wu through the shell and attack from within to force it to come out its shell. Once it comes out of its shell, Lan Wang Ji will attack it using the Killer String technique.
When he gets inside Slaughter Xuan Wu, Wei Wu Xian sees numerous corpses inside and realizes that the beast not only eats the flesh of humans but consumes their souls. Lan Wang Ji comments that it’s similar to the Yin Iron. Wei Wu Xian continues to search around and comes across and sword. He grabs the sword, but notices that its full of dark energy and resentment. He realizes that the sword is what is keeping Slaughter Xuan Wu trapped there.
Slaughter Xuan Wu then notices Wei Wu Xian’s presence and starts to attack him. Wei Wu Xian pulls out the sword and stabs Slaughter Xuan Wu with it. He successfully gets the beast to come out of its shell, which signals for Lan Wang Ji to start attacking from outside. Lan Wang Ji uses the Killer String technique against Slaughter Xuan Wu, but it’s still not strong enough.
Suddenly, Wei Wu Xian becomes consumed by the dark energy of the sword. Lan Wang Ji notices the changes in Wei Wu Xian and tries to speed up the killing process of the beast, but the dark energy takes over Wei Wu Xian’s body. He uses the dark energy from the sword and attacks Slaughter Xuan Wu. His attacks are successful and the two are able to kill the beast. However, Wei Wu Xian get heavily injured in the process.
Meanwhile, Wen Chao congratulates Wen Ruo Han for the success of the soulless corpses (aka puppets). He believes that with the boosted power, they will soon be able to take over the four clans. However, Wen Ruo Han assigns him to find Xue Yang and find the fourth piece. Wen Chao is confused why he needs the fourth piece since they are already powerful enough with the three pieces, but Wen Ruo Han says they need the fourth piece to ensure that the puppets can fully under their control.
Back in the cave, Wei Wu Xian wakes up from his injuries and asks Lan Wang Ji about Slaughter Xuan Wu, to which Lan Wang Ji replies that its dead. Wei Wu Xian then tells Lan Wang Ji that he heard many screams from the sword and lost consciousness.
Wei Wu Xian then laughs and jokes that he’s never seen Lan Wang Ji looked so concerned before and adds on that he thought he’d never get to see his worried face in his lifetime. However, his injuries are too severe, and he develops a fever. Lan Wang Ji then uses his magic to heal Wu Xian injuries. While Lan Wang Ji is healing Wei Wu Xian injuries, he asks him to sing him a song. And to his surprise, Lan Wang Ji sings him a song that gets them both reminiscing about when they first met. After Lan Wang Ji sings the song, Wei Wu Xian asks him for the name and Lan Wang Ji answers that its called Wang Xian, but Wei Wu Xian faints before hearing its name.
Later on, Wei Wu Xian wakes up and realizes he’s out of the cave. He is greeted by Jin Zi Xuan and Jiang Cheng who tell him that they both went to Lanling Jin Sect to get reinforcement and reveals that it’s been seven days. Wei Wu Xian then realizes that he and Lan Wang Ji had been stuck in the cave for seven days. He then asks about Lan Wang Ji, and Jiang Cheng tells him that he already left for Gusu Lan. The men then separate to go back to their respective clans to discuss how to deal with the Qishan Wen Clan.
Jiang Cheng and Wei Wu Xian arrive in Yunmeng Jiang, but Wei Wu Xian faints before he can properly greet his master and Jiang Yan Li.
Wei Wu Xian wakes up to Jiang Yan Li tending to him and Jiang Cheng bringing him soup. He happily eats the soup that Jiang Yan Li made and tells her how much he missed her. Jiang Feng Mian enters and tells the boys they did a good job. However, when Jiang Cheng tries to lecture Wei Wu Xian about being a hero, Jiang Feng Mian reprimands Jiang Cheng.
Yu Zi Yuan then enters and yells at Jiang Feng Mian for yelling at Jiang Cheng. She goes onto say that one day Wei Wu Xian will bring disaster upon their Yunmeng Jiang Sect. She and Jiang Feng Mian get into a fight and she reveals that outsiders have been spreading rumors that Jiang Feng Mian can’t forget about Zangse Sanren and that Wei Wu Xian is his illegitimate child. This angers Jiang Feng Mian and he storms out of the room.
After his parents leave the room, Jiang Cheng also unhappily leaves. Wei Wu Xian rushes after him, despite his injuries, and tries to console Jiang Cheng. However, Jiang Cheng tells Wei Wu Xian that he knows that his father doesn’t like him because he is the son of the woman he doesn’t love and his personality is not like Wei Wu Xian’s. But Wei Wu Xian comforts him and says that no matter, Jiang Cheng will be the leader of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect and he will be his subordinate, like their fathers were.

Episode 43 & 44
Consort Lan is still worried about his son. Just then Yuwen Huai’s subordinate brings in a box and tell her that he was too late. Devastated, she puts the blame on Chu Qiao, wanting to kill her.

Yan Xun is trying to search for Chu Qiao, but instead get the news that the emperor sent out orders to kill Chu Qiao the day Yuan Song and Chuner was back. Yan Xun tells him that who ever kills Chu Qiao, he will kill their whole family.

Yuwen Yue tells Yuwen Lie that he is going to leave to take out all of Liang spies. Yuwen Lie asks him what he would do if he meets Chu Qiao along the way. Yuwen Yue asks what he wants him to do and Yuwen Lie tells him just don’t get too involved with her. Yuwen Yue questions why he is able to cut off this legs to save the women he loves but I can’t? Yuwen Lie tells him that he regrets what he did. Yuwen Yue asks if he is able to watch that women die, and leaves.

As Chu Qiao is being attacked by a bunch of soldiers, Liang Shaoqin pass by. He tries to leave, but his horse doesn’t move and he starts blabbing nonsense about law and reason. Chu Qiao uses this chance to hop on his horse and escape. Chu Qiao thanks the horse and tries to give him money but he doesn’t accept and leaves.

Yan Xun reaches Yan Bei but no one shows up. They tell him that no one wants to fight against the Wei. Yan Xun then heads off to a party held by one of the tribes, where most of the people are at. The tribe leaders thinks that Yan Xun is weak and doesn’t believe that he left Chang’an in chaos. Yan Xun hears everything and introduces himself as their new king before slicing one of the leaders head.

Yuwen Yue arrives at Xianyang to find out more about the Liang spies but was too late, they escaped. He then tells them to search for Chu Qiao. Shaoqin ends up being a slave and brought by Chu Qiao. She tells him they are even now and leaves. (Get gets caught again) Xiao Ce is also looking for Chu Qiao and asks Zhan Ziyu to save her. Ziyu states that he only kills people and Xiao Ce uses Xia Chong as a trade.
Episode 44💙💙💙
A Chu sees Liang scholar captured as a slave again. She goes to buy him but the slave trader hiked up the price. She doesn’t want to pay and decides to rob him to rescue Liang scholar instead. They hide out in an abandoned temple but the guards find her easily. During the fight, flying arrows stab A Chu in the chest while she was proctecting Liang scholar. He carries her to escape. At a safe distant, she chases him again. After he left, the slave trader and his guards appear.
Yan Xun comes to visit Feng Mian who reports to him the development in the city of Xian Yan. Under Mr. Wu’s guidance, Liu Yi, a loyalist of Yan Bei, became a business leader in Xian Yan business coalition that fund Yan Bei. Feng explains that the growth of the coalition made many people greedy and stopped financing Yan Bei. Now both Yan Xun and Yuwen Yue are looking for account book from this business coalition.
A Chu and Liang are being sold as slaves by the slave trader. In the cage, Liang gives A Chu an account book for keepsake. A Chu is severely injured because of the arrow still in her chest. The slave trader sends her back into the tent for treatment. At the same time, Yuwen Yue is walking the city. He sees the side profile of A Chu and rushes to ask the slave trader but could not find her. He leaves after buying all the other slave. On the second round, a man comes by to buy A Chu and Liang scholar. Not long after Yuwen Yue receives news about the sword that belongs to Xing Er. He realizes that she must have been injured and rushes back to the slave trade to look for A Chu. He asks the slave trader and the slave trader tells him that she was sold to a man who left the city. Yuwen Yue chases after her without much luck.
A Chu wakes up on a ship. Liang tells her that they were bought by a master and he hired a doctor to care for her injury. Seeing the medicine, A Chu walks out from the ship and sees a man in wheel chair. She asks him for his motive in buy her. He tells her that it is on the request of Xiao Ce that he rescues her. Once the boat docks, they are free to leave. A Chu parts way with Liang. But she realizes that she still have his account book and goes back to look for him. She finds him being captured by guards who are looking for the account book too.
A Chu sneaks into the manor where Liang was taken too. She knocked out the one of the dancing slaves. Unexpected, Yuwen Yue also arrives at the manor for a hot spring bath. He enters the room that the dancing slave was suppose to serve him. A Chu was trying to sneak out when Yuwen Yue asks her to massage him. She walks towards him and gives him a massage. Mid-way, she pulls out a knife and tries to stab him but he quickly blocks her and the two battles. He pulls off her shirt and underwear in the process. She grabs a cloth and wraps herself before they continue. Yue Qi hears the noise and rushes in to “rescue” Yuwen Yue. Yuwen Yue quickly covers A Chu up and shoos Yue Qi away. Yue Qi and the guards discuss that their master is no longer a monk. (LOL!! YWY’s guards are too funny). Yuwen Yue grabs A Chu when she was trying to leave. Wei Shuye also arrives at the city under the order of the princess to kill A Chu.

Episode 11 & 12
After being kicked by Nie Ming Jue, Meng Yao bids farewell to Nie Huai Sang, Wei Wu Xian, and Jiang Cheng who were standing outside the room. Nie Huai Sang is confused and asks why he has to go, but Meng Yao keeps quiet and quickly leaves after paying his respects to the three of them.
After Meng Yao leaves, Nie Huai Sang barges into the room and asks his brother what happened and why he drove Meng Yao out. Nie Meng Jue refuses to answer Nie Huai Sang and berates him for having no manners. He then asks Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng what they plan on doing afterwards. Wei Wu Xian expresses his concern over the Gusu Lan Sect and Lan Wang Ji since Wen Xu was sent there. However, when Jiang Cheng comments on about if the Qishan Wen Sect send someone to Yunmeng Jiang, Wei Wu Xian then realizes that they must return home. And the two then decide that they will return to Yunmeng Jiang first.
Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng return to Yunmeng Jiang where they are warmly greeted by the people there. They stop by a stall to talk to a vendor where they find out that smaller clans have been escaping to Yunmeng Jiang to seek shelter. They both then quickly return to meet with Jiang Feng Mian.
When they both return to Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Wei Wu Xin and Jiang Cheng kneel while they wait for Jiang Feng Mian. Jiang Cheng asks Wei Wu Xian if they’ll get punished, to which Wei Wu Xian answers that they’ll surely get punished. Jiang Cheng then scolds Wei Wu Xian for always getting them in trouble and Wei Wu Xian answers that he’ll take the punishment for both of them. Their conversation is cut short when Jiang Feng Mian enters. Both Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng admit their mistakes in front of Jiang Feng Mian. However, instead of punishing them, Jiang Feng Mian asks them if they encountered any dangers or are hurt. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wu Xian are caught surprised by his question. And before Jiang Cheng can reveal to his father about what happened, Jiang Yan Li comes in. Jiang Feng Mian then tells them to go eat first.
As the Jiang family are eating, Jiang Cheng asks where his mother is and Jiang Feng Mian hesitantly answers that she is resting. However, Yu Zi Yuan angrily enters and yells at Jiang Feng Mian for letting Jiang Cheng go to the Qishan Wen Clan’s lecture. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wu Xian are confused and Jiang Feng Mian clarifies that they received a message from the Qishan Wen Sect to send their heir to the lecture. Yu Zi Yuan is furious that Jiang Cheng is forced to go because he is the heir to the Yunmeng Jiang Sect and scolds Jiang Feng Mian that while Wei Wu Xian has a choice to chose to go or not, her son has no choice. Wei Wu Xian offers to go, but he gets insult by Yu Zi Yuan. She continues to yell at Jiang Feng Mian for favoring Wei Wu Xian since he is the son of the woman he loves. Jiang Cheng tries to intersect and speak for Wei Wu Xian, but he is immediately shot down by Yu Zi Yuan. She becomes angrier because both her son and husband always speak up for Wei Wu Xian, and quickly leaves he table.
As he is on his way to Gusu Lan, Lan Wang Ji is ambushed by Wen Zhu Liu and Wen Chao. Wen Chao demands Lan Wang Ji to give them the Yin Iron, but Lan Wang Ji refuses. Wen Chao tries to attack Lan Wang Ji, but Lan Wang Ji immediately escapes.
Meanwhile, in Gusu Lan, Wen Xu has arrived with his men and they attack the Gusu Lan Sect.
To deal with Wen Xu, Lan Xi Chan begs Lan Qi Ren to leave with the Gusu Lan Sect’s ancient books. However, Lan Qi Ren disagrees and says he will stay and Li Xi Chen should leave. Lan Xi Chen uses his authority as the leader of the Gusu Lan Sect to try to get Lan Qi Ren leave. However, Lan Qi Ren says that it is because Lan Xi Chen is the leader of the Gusu Lan Sect that he is the one who has to leave. He says that as long as Lan Xi Chen is alive then the Gusu Lan Sect will never be eliminated.
That night, Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng meet with Jiang Feng Mian. They two are about to reveal to him about the Yin Iron, but Jiang Feng Mian stops them and tells them he already knows everything. The both of them are surprised that he knows and realize that was he didn’t punish them earlier. Wei Wu Xian then says he’s worried about the Gusu Lan Sect and Jiang Feng Mian tells him that Lan Xi Chen already sent a letter to him to let him know that the Qishan Wen Clan will probably invade them due to the Yin Iron. He tells Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng to be careful when they are at Qishan Wen. Wei Wu Xian assures Jiang Feng Mian that he will not let Wen Chao and the Qishan Wen Clan bully him and Jiang Cheng.
At Gusu Lan, Wen Xu and Lan Qi Ren face off against each other. When Lan Qi Ren gets injured from Wen Xu, Lan Wang Ji arrives in time to fight off against Wen Xu. He uses his zither to distract Wen Xu and the Qishan Wen Sect’s disciples as he and the other Gusu Lan Sect’s disciples run to the Cold Springs to hide. However, while they hide in the Cold Springs, Wen Xu has captured a few Gusu Lan disciples and threatens to kill them if they do not come out of hiding.
Unable to stand the innocent disciples being killed one by one, Lan Wang Ji decides to go out alone. Lan Qi Ren tries to stop him, but Lan Wang Ji counters with Lan Yi’s last words to him when he and Wei Wu Xian were at the Cold Springs, which was to keep their conscience clear.
Lan Wang Ji arrives before Wen Xu can kill the last disciple. Wen Xu demands the Yin Iron and Lan Wang Ji says they need to retreat from Gusu Lan and that he will go with them. Satisfied with his answer, Wen Xu commands his men to retreat. But before they leave, he orders one of his man to break one of Lan Wang Ji’s legs.
In Yunmeng Jiang, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wu Xian are practicing their archery skills. With the Yunmeng Jiang Sect’s junior disciples cheering them on, they take turns trying to hit a kite flying in the air. Jiang Cheng goes first and fails. He then asks Wei Wu Xian if he can hit the kite since it’s so far away. Wei Wu Xian takes a go at it and easily hits the kite. They both then discuss that if it’ll be this easy to take down the Qishan Wen Clan once they arrive there. Jiang Cheng seems worried about what’s to come, Wei Wu Xian reassures him that nothing is impossible, quoting what Jiang Feng Mian had taught them.
At Qishan Wen, Wen Ruo Han punishes a disciple in front of Wen Qing using the soulless corpses he created from the Yin Iron. He warns Wen Qing that if she disobeys him again it will be Wen Ning that will be the next victim.
As Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng are about to depart to Qishan Wen, Jiang Yan Li makes sure to give them enough food and medicine they need to keep them safe. However, she ends up giving too much to the boys and Jiang Feng Mian has to remind her that Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng are old enough to think for themselves. He then tells the boys they must keep their conscience clear and reminds them to not make any rash decisions.
When they arrive Qishan Wen, Wei Wu Xian get suspicious when he doesn’t see anyone from the Gusu Lan Sect. Jiang Cheng tells him to stop being nosy and that it must mean that Lan Wang Ji must be in hiding since he has the Yin Iron. However, Wei Wu Xian can’t help but feel that something is weird. Jiang Cheng then tells him to stop worrying about Lan Wang Ji and to worry about himself first. Before the two can continue their conversation, Wen Chao appears and Lan Wang Ji also appears shortly after and is being escorting by Qishan Wen Sect’s disciples. Wei Wu Xian tries to talk to Lan Wang Ji, but he ignores him and focuses on Wen Chao.

As the disciples from various sects gather together at the Qishan Wen Sect, Wen Chao orders all of them to hand over their swords before entering. Many of the disciples refuse to do so, but Wen Chao threatens those who refuse. Wei Wu Xian is the first to hand over his sword and Jiang Cheng and Lan Wang Ji reluctantly follow.
But when it comes to the Lanling Jin Sect, Jin Zi Xuan adamantly refuses to hand over his sword. Wen Chao gets angered by his actions and orders him to be thrown in jail, but Mian Mian intercedes on Jin Zi Xuan’s behalf. She apologizes to Wen Chao and reminds Jin Zi Xuan about what Jin Guang Shan told them before coming there. Jin Zi Xuan then angrily hands over his sword.
After collected all the swords, Wen Chao then tells the disciples that their first assignment is to memorize a book containing all the Qishan Wen Sect’s rules and accomplishments since its foundation. He adds on that he will ask each of them to recite it every morning, midday, and dusk until their days at the Qishan Wen Sect are over. Jiang Cheng thinks Wen Chao is being ridiculous and seriously asks Wei Wu Xian if he is planning on doing it. But Wei Wu Xian ignores Jiang Cheng’s question and happily shouts to Wen Chao that he will do it.
Meanwhile, Wen Qing and Wen Ning are talking privately and Wen Ning asks his sister if Wei Wu Xian came. Wen Qing remembers Weu Ruo Han’s threat towards her and she tells Wen Ning that he is not allowed to be friends with Wei Wu Xian. She reminds him that they and Wei Wu Xian are on different sides and walk different paths and they cannot be allowed to mix with each other. Wen Ning tries to defend Wei Wu Xian by telling her that he is a good person and saved his life, but Wen Qing doesn’t back down and scolds her brother even more.
In Jiang Cheng and Wei Wu Xian’s room, Wei Wu Xian is reciting the book that Wen Chao told them to remember. He comments on one of the rules that state that any disciple who commits evil deeds will be beheaded because he finds it ironic. He then bluntly states that if that’s so, then all of the disciples from the Qishan Wen Sect would have to all be beheaded. However, before he can continue to read, he suddenly remembers about Lan Wang Ji and finds it strange that he was the only one from the Gusu Lan Sect to come. He then immediately leaves the room to look for Lan Wang Ji. However, when he tries to leave the room, the Qishan Wen Sect’s disciples, who are guarding the room, refuses to let him leave and pushes him back into the room.
The next morning, Wen Chao calls out Lan Wang Ji, Jin Zi Xuan, and Wei Wu Xian to recite from the book. Lan Wang Ji and Jin Zi Xuan both refuse to recite and Wei Wu Xian is the only one who volunteers to do it. However, instead of reciting the rules of the Qishan Wen Sect, he purposely recites the rules from the Gusu Lan Sect. This angers Wen Chao and he punishes Wei Wu Xian along with Lan Wang Ji and Jin Zi Xuan to work in the vegetables field.
While working in the vegetables field, Wei Wu Xian tries to get Lan Wang Ji to talk to him, but he refuses to say anything and avoids him. Wei Wu Xian asks Lan Wang Ji if something bad happened to the Gusu Lan Sect, but Lan Wang Ji still refuses to talk.
Their conversation is cut short when Wen Chao appears. He and Wei Wu Xian argues and he admits that the Qishan Wen Clan did attack the Gusu Lan Sect. This angers Wei Wu Xian and he tries to fight back, but Wen Chao and his subordinates subdue him. Lan Wang Ji tries to intervene, but Wen Chao also strikes at him. He then orders Wei Wu Xian to be taken to the dungeon.
Wen Ning is watching from afar and worries about Wei Wu Xian. However, Wen Qing appears and reminds him what she said to him earlier. She repeats her words that Wen Ning cannot intervene in Wei Wu Xian’s matters and tells him to stay away from him.
In the dungeons, Wen Chao forces Wei Wu Xian into a room with a beast who resembles a dog. Wei Wu Xian is immediately fearful and runs out trembling. Wen Chao takes notice of this and continues to throw insults at Wei Wu Xian for being scared of a dog. He then pushes him back into the room and locks the door. Locked inside the room with the beast, Wei Wu Xian continuously bangs on the door and yells at Wen Chao to open, but Wen Chao just stands on the other side laughing.
Jiang Cheng tries to leave his room to search for Wei Wu Xian, but the guards stop him. Wen Qing arrives and gets the guards to leave. They both then ask each other about Wei Wu Xian’s whereabouts. Realizing that Jiang Cheng doesn’t know here Wei Wu Xian is, Wen Qing thinks something bad happened to him and quickly leaves.
In the dungeon, Wei Wu Xian continuously gets attacked by the beast and is heavily injured. However, the beast suddenly falls and faints before it can continue to attack him. He realizes it to be Wen Qing’s needles that caused the beast to faint. Wen Ning then appears and gives medicine to him. Wei Wu Xian asks Wen Ning if he and Wen Qing are alright and Wen Ning tells him that Wen Qing was heavily reprimanded by Wen Ruo Han. He doesn’t know what happened between them, but he knows that Wen Qing has been acting weird since the incident. Wei Wu Xian guesses that Wen Ruo Han must’ve threatened her for helping him and Lan Wang Ji. Wen Ning then reveals to Wei Wu Xian about what happened to the Gusu Lan Sect and Lan Wang Ji’s broken leg, to which makes Wei Wu Xian furious.
Later on, Wen Chao comes to check up on Wei Wu Xian. Before he enters the room, Wei Wu Xian quickly removes Wen Qing’s needles so that Wen Chao doesn’t notice them. Upon entering the room, Wen Chao is surprised to see that Wei Wu Xian is still alive, but he decides to set him free since they will both have more time fight off against each other later on.
Wei Wu Xian meets up with Jiang Cheng and the other disciples. Despite his injuries, he pretends he is fine. Jiang Cheng asks him what happened to him, but Wei Wu Xian shrugs it off and says he’s fine. He then asks Nie Huai Sang for food since he was locked up for a day and didn’t anything, but he doesn’t have any. Jiang Cheng offers his steam bun instead.
Wen Chao and Wen Qing both arrive. Wen Chao announces to the disciples about what happened with the the Gusu Lan Sect and adds on that the Qinghe Nie Sect is currently being dealt with. Nie Huai Sang immediately becomes fearful and asks for his brother’s whereabouts, but Wen Chao declines to answer. He then goes onto announce that the Lanling Jin Sect has been cooperative and will not be attacked, but he is not too sure about the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. He mocks Jiang Feng Mian for being a coward and this infuriates Jiang Cheng. However, before he can fight back, Wei Wu Xian stops him.
Afterwards, Wen Qing confronts Wen Ning about helping Wei Wu Xian when he was in the dungeons. Wen Ning continues to defend Wei Wu Xian and doesn’t understand why his sister is against him helping Wei Wu Xian. He tells Wen Qing that he is just going by what she taught since he was young, which is to always repay kindness. However, Wen Qing pleads with him again to stay away from Wei Wu Xian.
Meanwhile, Wei Wu Xian and the rest of the disciples are all reciting the Qishan Wen Sect’s rules out loud as Wen Chao listens. However, a report comes in that there is an unusual occurrence happening at Mt. Muxi due to a strange beast. However, instead of reporting it to Wen Ruo Han, Wen Chao decides to use the disciples as bait instead.
At Mt. Muxi, the disciples are all searching for the beast. Wei Wu Xian notices Lan Wang Ji wandering around with his injured leg and wants to help him, but Jiang Cheng stops him. He warns Wei Wu Xian for helping Lan Wang Ji as he fears that Wen Chao will attack the Yunmeng Jiang Sect if he goes to help him. However, Wei Wu Xian is worried about Lan Wang Ji and tells Jiang Cheng that his leg injury must’ve worsened with everything that has been happening. Jiang Cheng is still hesitant about him helping Lan Wang Ji, but Wei Wu Xian decides to do it anyway. Wei Wu Xian quickly walks up to Lan Wang Ji and asks him about his leg. Lan Wang Ji quickly replies that he is fine, but Wei Wu Xian doesn’t back down and offers to carry him on his back.
