A serious accident killed two people on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the 12 Poteaux area of Ngaoundéré. A moto-taxi rider and his passenger died after a truck hit them when the apprentice driver lost control while the main driver was away.

Authorities, including the prosecutor, arrived at the scene for investigations. The moto-taxi union also joined to help identify the truck driver. The two bodies, still unidentified, were taken to the regional hospital morgue. An investigation is underway.

People say many of these trucks move around without proper technical checks, while law enforcement officers regularly carry out multiple controls on riders. When riders have their documents, officers create problems, but when they don’t have 500 FCFA, they get slapped.

President Paul Biya has green-lighted a 98 BILLION FCFA loan aimed at boosting anti-flood efforts in Douala and Yaoundé.
The repayment? Spread across 20 years.

A decree signed on December 9 now authorizes the Minister of Economy to seal the deal with the French Development Agency (AFD).

According to AFD, the project — meant to cover over 2 million people — will:

The scammer vanished immediately after receiving the money.

She insists she was deceived and never intended to defraud anyone.
Investigations are now underway to track down the real scammers.

Meanwhile, Cameroonians of goodwill rallied, donated, and fought online to help secure her release — and Pelagie isn’t taking that for granted.
