Creating music with your vibe and being able to escape the pressure that comes with new music trends is a reality many music artists have to battle with. Artists around the world constantly switch genres or sound to fit in the current global sounds to satisfy the ever-needy music market.

Many might not agree with the fact that there's original music, but those who stay intentional to a particular sound without any paradigm shift irrespective of all the pressures the music business presents. There are still artists in the world who believe its music first and that's where the full force is applied before every other thing follows. Does the music business have adverse negative effects on the artists? The truth is once you have been in the industry and understood the core you tend to realize companies and investors don't care about the artists and their artistic vision it's more about making the money.

It's logical for anyone who invests money, your career is no longer about freedom of expression as an artist but it's more about creating hit records that will sell. Well no matter how talented an artist is, the world only knows how good you are by the songs you create and that's that.

One way im staying original as an artist evolving on a particular genre is by knowing the history that represents it. When you look at the musical influences of every artist who is staying true and those who inspired them then realize the objective of why they do music the way they do it.

Patoranking is undeniably one of the most successful dance hall artists who has had quite a good run in the Nigerian music industry, the very debut of his career was on dancehall - reggae and it's been like that till he hit national recognition and now home to many hit songs. He's still keeping the culture alive, remaining steadfast to that genre.

If you ask me I will tell you without wavering in Cameroon we have Dready Christ, pure music in its natural state representing Rap and sprinkles of Dancehall music as well. A majority of the songs in their discographies cut across socio-political issues of society. You can describe the artistic direction as music with a morally inclined variation of dancehall. However, I won't confine his career to a particular genre because he sees himself more of a musical poet and songwriter and that's like a home to versatility.

Dready Christ's musical influence reverts right to 2014 when the industry knew him as the founder of the music band P.I.M Boyz. There's depth in his songs the lyrics have so many truths and messages embedded within. For those who cherish meaningful music, he's just that person you want to bury a mind shift when listening to his songs and for a majority, he's an underrated artist. He's in a universe of his own when it comes to wordplay and lyricism, and then you always have this dancehall vibe and energy in delivery that naturally sets in. Even if he doesn't directly represent that genre his artistry has been built around that culture, the style, the brand, the patois, and how he vocalizes.

He has an impressive repertoire with solid EPs and several mind-blowing singles.
