If you don’t tell, they won’t know.
Likes and follows are a great datapoint to tell you what kinds of posts resonate with your audience.
But…
- Will it pay for the rent? Pay for goceries?
- Can you use them as equity to take out a mortgage?
- Will they get people to buy from you?
Instead of chasing likes and follows, post insight/value that will get you closer to your business/organisation goals.
Think of every post (whether they get likes and comments or not) as a nudge in the right direction.
Or an opportunity to learn and improve.
Eventually you’ll get there.

When it comes to clients opinion vs best practice I always make sure a they are clear on my professional opinion on the best way forward 👍🏽 and possible pitfalls of doing it their way ie buying followers, making the logo bigger, posting irrelevant content etc 😝
Always aim to:
Keep it professional.
Don’t take it personal.
Focus on the positives.

It is frustrating - but at the end of the day it’s their account, their business (well that helps me anyway 😅).
When you have a client that gets enthusiastic about posting once they see some results here’s what I do:
1. Give them space in the content calendar for ‘inspired’ posts
2. Give them some clear instructions on what best practice for timing(ie not canablising a posts reach by dropping their random one 8mins after scheduled posts go up) and why we need to stay on brand and stick to the plan
3. Be gracious. Don’t take offense at that random grid-wrecking photo of their lunch at a random restaurant lol.
We’re on a journey with them to grow their business and teach their goals.
At the end of the day, if it bothers you that much - you’re not married to them - you might simply have to go your seperate ways.

BUT: I’ve always given my best professional advice before hand - it’s what I’m there for - not just to say yes and blame the outcomes on the client.

It happens.
It burns.
But It’s OK.
Happens to everyone.
When reviewing a post that FLOPS consider these questions:
1. How good was the hook🪝?
2. Did it line up with my social media marketing goals?
3. Did I post at an optimal time?
4. Is the content helpful?
5. Was the information easy to consume?
For me, a post that flops isn’t fatal, in fact, it’s not the metrics flop that burns - it’s that I believe in the content and more people won’t see it.
Which isn’t a problem in the end because we’ll get another shot at sharing the good news of marketing in the next post or the same content repackaged and repurposed in a future post 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
So keep moving, Keep improving, and let that post fly 🚀

Buying followers or engagement (ie paying for bots to like your posts) is a huge No-No 🚫
Just like taking banned steroids to build muscles, short term benefits will be overtaken by long term damage to your account and even your online reputation!
Stick to building a real, engaged audience using organic growth strategies 📈
Real people engage, connect and buy - which is good for business, and the algorithms.
