The W:O:A Metal Battle is an international music contest, which strives to support young, unsigned Metalbands from the underground. More than 40 countries have joined the competition. It brings together the worldwide metal scenes at the Wacken Open Air. The contest supported several bands at their starting point of their career, e.g. Drone, Torture Squad, Battle Beast and Hammercult. The winner of
the W:O:A Metal Battle in Switzerland also gets the chance to play at one of the world's biggest Metal festivals and make a huge step into the professional music business!

REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE
• You are a metal band from Switzerland.
• You don't have a deal and aren't about to sign to a label in the near future.
• You can easily play a 30 minute set consisting of your own songs.
• You didn't win in past W:O:A Metal Battles.

COMPETITION SYSTEM
1. Apply online, as soon as we start the new application process. The next application will start in autumn 2022 - check the news feed for updates.
2. The best bands out of all applications is be chosen by the jury and assigned to the Semi-Finals according to the band's and promoter's preferences. The jury (consisting of at least 3 persons from the music business) elects the winners, which can advance to the next round, the Swiss Final.
3. The winners of the 4 Semi-Finals compete against each other in the Swiss Final. The jury elects the winner, which will be invited to play at the international Metal Battle Final at Wacken Openair. The promoters provide all light and sound engineers (no individual engineers). Change-over with linecheck will be max. 30 minutes. Backline sharing will be required.
