"The only group I’ve heard on disc, whose records I’ve taken off because they made my bowels churn."

That (famous) quote is from director Clive Barker about COIL.

When he set out to create the chilling atmosphere for his 1987 horror classic "Hellraiser" (Demons to some, angels to others) he turned to the experimental music group Coil. Known for their unsettling and avant-garde soundscapes, Coil (comprised of John Balance and Peter Christopherson, ex- Psychic TV & Throbbing Gristle) seemed like the perfect fit to capture the film's macabre essence.

Excited by the prospect, Coil produced a series of dark, atmospheric tracks that were meant to score the eerie world of the Cenobites, with lead character Pinhead. However, despite the band's enthusiasm and Barker's support, their compositions were ultimately deemed too unconventional and unsettling by the film's producers (...) seeking a more commercially viable soundtrack, New Line Cinema opted for a different composer, leading to Coil's work being shelved.

Despite this setback, Coil's proposed soundtrack did not fade into obscurity. It was later released as "The Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser," giving fans a glimpse into what might have been: dread and beauty, perfectly aligning with the dark themes of Barker's vision.

Nils Udo is a renowned German contemporary artist known for his stunning land art, a creative movement where natural landscapes are used to craft site-specific installations. These artworks are made using materials like leaves, branches, stones, and water, blending seamlessly with their environments.

In the 80s, the Japanese group Interior, known for their Kanyo Ongaku and ambient music, composed the soundtrack for a laserdisc of Nils Udo's work, available only in Japan. Today, this rare soundtrack is reissued by WWrwtfww Records bringing this unique collaboration to a global audience.

Summer has arrived and with it comes the sun-soaked release of Albinos' Bamboo Night LP, previously only available on cassette.

French illustrator, producer and owner of Astral Soda Records Albinos' second full-length, follow-up to his self released 2016 album Santa Barbara.

Bamboo Night was initially limited to 25 cassettes, before we got one, juiced out the best of it, added some ice, a slice of orange and a splash of rum, and put it on wax.
