MUSE - Magazine for UNIL Students of English MUSE is a Magazine for UNIL Students of English in which students can publish articles about various subjects, in both web and print issues.

MUSE is a Magazine for UNIL Students of English. It aims to be a place where students can communicate and share about subjects which interest them the most, be it literature, music, theatre, movies, or anything else. The magazine was created in September 2009 and was taken over by Lizy Leemann and Valeriya Vershinina in 2011 after the departure of the founder, Sarah-Jane Moloney. In 2014, the MUSE

team consists of Corinne Morey, Jonathan Afonso and Rebecca Frey.

2014 also introduces MUSE to a new era of its story, as the magazine now has its own website, providing both web and print issues throughout the academic year.

Students in Kirsten Stirling’s MA seminar “Poetry and Public Life in Scotland” were discussing the Scottish national poet Kathleen Jamie’s outreach projects of crowd-sourced
poetry. Jamie asked the people of Scotland to submit one line on a particular theme (the first theme was the environment) and then she “curated” the lines into poems. In the last 20 minutes of the seminar they experimented with crowd-sourced poetry on a smaller scale.

Hi!

Our winter edition is out on the website! So if you want to take a break from writing essays, reading articles or studying, don't hesitate to head over our website. You'll find poems, short stories, an amazing interview of Denis Renevey about the MA study trip and finally, a test to know which member of the faculty you are most like, a question we're sure you're dying to know the answer to.

Head over https://wp.unil.ch/musemagazine/ then!

Good luck for the end of the semester,
Your MUSE team

Hey!

Here is a quick reminder to submit to MUSE's spring print issue!

This is the moment for you to write a little something maybe about that movie that you absolutely loved (or hated!), or that shop or restaurant you cannot believe that no one knows about because it is that amazing, or that album that gave you goosebumps for a week! Or how about that poem or short story or play you wrote that you keep re-reading because you're that proud of it - and you should be!

If you would like to share anything like that, or something more (recipes, essays, etc.) send us an e-mail at [email protected]! The deadline is Friday, May 10th!

We look forward to reading your submissions!

Your MUSE team

Spring is the season of new beginnings, and also of the new print issue of MUSE. As you may already know, MUSE is composed entirely by students, and your contributions are an essential part of it.

So, if you want to change up the rhythm of academic writing, try your hand at creative texts, or just have the opportunity to have your work and voice published, then MUSE is for you!
We’re calling for submissions of all kinds: articles on issues that you’re passionate about, short stories, poetry, recipes, or even artwork. If you can think of it, we can probably publish it (with a maximum word count of 1000). Send us your contributions at [email protected] up until the 10th of May.

We are also looking for new members to join the editorial committee! If you’re interested in joining us, take a look at our previous issues and like our page to get a glimpse of what we do and how we work! If you are interested in joining, send us an e-mail at [email protected] with why you are interested!

As always, we look forward to hearing from you and receiving your great contributions ;)

Until then,

The MUSE Team

Dear MUSE readers,

We’re delighted to announce this semester's online issue of MUSE is now out!

We received many contributions this semester, including several creative writing pieces (both prose and poetry), an opinion piece, an interview with the department's wonderful secretary, Eva Suarato, some gorgeous illustrations, and even a quiz.

Come check it out here: http://wp.unil.ch/musemagazine

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we've enjoyed writing it and putting it together.

We'd especially like to thank all of our contributors, it has, as always, been a pleasure.

Happy holidays, and we hope to hear from you soon!

With love,

The MUSE Committee

Hello!

We hope you haven’t forgotten about us, as we certainly haven’t forgotten about you!
With the semester slowly drawing to a close, we at MUSE are getting ready to publish the winter issue.
We’ve been receiving submissions throughout the semester, but wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that the deadline is coming up soon – this Friday, the 7th of December!

MUSE is a great way to share and discover students’ work, be it prose or poetry, academic or completely informal, and we accept texts of all kinds (excepting hate speech, thank you very much). As this will be an online issue, there is no restriction on word count, so short (and not-very-short) stories are more than welcome, as well as articles, essays, recipes, and more.

If you want to participate, email us your work over at [email protected]. You can also check out previous issues here.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
