One River, Many Relations One River Many Relations wants to mobilize knowledge and amplify the voices of Indigenous communities downstream the Alberta Oilsands and other industries.

One River Many Relations is a multi-disciplinary project that utilizes western science/traditional knowledge, feature film, news and film websites to support community goals. We are a group of researchers, journalists and concerned citizens in partnerships with Indigenous communities in the Athabasca Delta.

Recently, the Athabasca Fort Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) took a bold step by filing a lawsuit against the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) over a leaking tailings pond. Produced in collaboration with the Mikisew Cree First Nation and the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, this documentary offers a unique perspective on the oil sands issue. It's essential to note that the film excludes all but the Indigenous voices of the community, ensuring their narratives take center stage. Created over four years, the film captures the experiences and insights of Indigenous communities in Fort Chipewyan, shedding light on both the benefits and harms associated with the industry.
