9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Psalm 9

The verse reassures the oppressed and persecuted that God is their ultimate protection and a constant source of security in difficult times, a promise supported by the belief that God never abandons those who seek and trust in Him.

King David understood that the help of God wasn’t given just because He favored some and opposed others. It was because His people have relationship with Him, they have faith in Him, and they seek Him.

It is a serious trial to the believers of God to feel forsaken by God. For there are particular times when we are likely to feel that the Lord has forsaken us; when we have sinned, when we face great trouble, when we have some great job to do, and we feel our prayers are unanswered.

We complain of our little faith: the remedy is in our own hands; let us set ourselves to know God…. But for all this, we must make time. We cannot know a friend from hurried interviews, much less God. So we must steep ourself in deep, long thoughts of His nearness and His love.

Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Psalm 5:12

The righteous are not made righteous by their good words. The righteous are those who trust the LORD, love His Name, and do His will. And their righteousness is evident in their words. They rejoice, they shout for joy, and they are joyful in the LORD despite of their circumstances.

The favor of God is the greatest blessing of all. Knowing that God looks on us with favor and pleasure is also the greatest knowledge in the world.

God's favor here is likened to a shield, symbolizing complete protection from all dangers, both physical and spiritual. This protection is not just defensive but a sign of God's proactive care. A shield is an armour over armour, large and mobile enough to protect every area and not just one area of our body, a total security.

Father thank you for revealing these truth to us your children. We are forever grateful & thankful. Guide us through Your Holy Spirit.

This we pray in Your Son’s precious Name ‘Jesus’, Amen!

God bless you

3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. Psalm 3

David’s prayer of declaration of what God did for him in the midst of trouble.

This verse signifies complete protection from physical and spiritual danger. Our God is more than our protection, our Lord is the source of our honour, dignity and worth.

When we are bowed down by shame or defeat, Our God is the one who lifts us up with confidence and courage.

Like what He did to King David.

5 “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Proverbs 30

In God’s inspired Scriptures, every word is specially chosen for value. He has purified His inspired words very carefully – as silver purified seven times in a refining fire – until they are perfectly pure (Ps 12:6). And He will bless and protect any person that trusts Him and His words.

It isn’t enough to know every word of God is pure if we don’t take the next step and trust Him as our shield.

God’s word needs no addition or improvement from us. We don’t need to take away from His words or add to His words (as in Revelation 22:18-19). If we do, we are targets of God’s rebuke and will be exposed as liars. If we say something different than God’s word, then He is right and we are wrong. He tells the truth and we will be found a liar.

Father, thank You that Your word is pure, true & flawless. We trust in You with all of our heart. Help us to live in that confidence and take refuge in You, for You are our shield. In Jesus' name.

God bless you

2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice;
when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Proverbs 29

It is time to mourn in all nations, for wicked men are ruling and turning God’s wisdom upside down. How can God’s saints rejoice, when they see equity, righteousness, truth, and wisdom compromised and corrupted on a daily basis?

The good people of any nation are seriously affected by the morality of their rulers. Righteous leaders are governed by God's laws.

This proverb does not apply to all men: the wicked love wicked rulers, for they promote and protect their sins.

This is a timeless reminder for people to support and elect leaders who govern with integrity, emphasizing that the choice of leadership affects not only short-term prosperity but also the long-term health and happiness of a society.

Let us pray that all in authority be righteous, even fathers. And let all saints give thanks and pray for their nation and rulers, for peace is possible, even in the midst of Babylon or hardships (Jer 29:4-7; I Tim 2:1-2).

God bless you

9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable. Proverbs 28

God had preachers under the Old Testament that taught the people by verbal instruction (II Chron 17:8-9; Ezra 7:10; Neh 8:1-12; Jonah 3:1-2; Mal 2:7). King Solomon, the writer of these proverbs is called the Preacher (Eccl 1:1-2,12; 7:27; 12:8-10). And there are preachers today under the New Testament (Rom 10:14; I Tim 2:7; II Tim 4:2).

The Lord warned that He will reject the prayers of those who do not listen submissively. In fact, He will consider their prayers to be abominations! Here is a very serious warning about our attitude toward the preaching of God’s word. He explained to the regathered Jews this was the reason for their horrific punishment by the Babylonians (Zech 7:7-14).

Imagine our prayer being an abomination to God! While we beg Him for blessing and favor in our life, He intensely despised our efforts and words. Our prayers nauseate Him.

Human pride is terrible, and a sermon against a sin of yours will bring it out. But pastors are to wage war against your opinions (II Cor 10:3-6). He has studied the subject 100 times more than you; he is preaching to the varied needs of many people; he has a divine mandate to be true to Scripture alone without fear of men (Jer 1:17); he is not preaching his agenda; he is merely repeating orders from the King of kings. Remember these things.

He that hath ears to hear; let him hear. And let his prayers come up as a sweet savor in the nostrils of the glorious God in heaven. Amen.

God bless you

18
The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit,
and whoever protects their master will be honored.
Proverbs 27

Wise sayings from this chapter warn about overconfidence and bragging. Solomon also encourages positive friendships and the wisdom they provide. He offers several notes about self-examination and the need for personal accountability. Many of the proverbs in this passage touch on the concept of speaking truth in love, even if it's not what the other person would like to hear. The end of the chapter uses the example of livestock to make a point about good stewardship.
