This powerful proverb affirms God’s Word and His protective role in the lives of those who trust in Him. It encourages us to rely and to seek refuge in His promises. For He will bless and protect anyone who does. They are worthy of our trust because they are tested, tried, and proven to be true. The ultimate, infallible, reliable source of truth. Every single word is flawless, perfect, and sincere. There is not the slightest hint of falsehood, corruption, or deficiency in it.

The smallest component of language that carries meaning is called word. Every word refers to every declaration and revelation.
Psalm 12:6 recorded that, “The words of the Lord are pure words: As silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.
All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.
Psalm 119:159-160

14 As a door swings back and forth on its hinges,
so the lazy person turns over in bed.
Proverbs 26

As a door moves back and forth, but it never goes anywhere! It turns from side to side, but cannot get loose from its place, it does not leave the doorway! So are lazy people, who will lie in bed, rolling back and forth, but dreading the thought of getting up to go.

Lazy people are headed for poverty, unless they drastically change their habits (Proverbs 19:15; 20:13). The more a man sleeps, the more he thinks he needs to sleep, his metabolism slows, and he quickly experiences catabolism of muscular strength.

We can be slothful spiritually too and will suffer spiritual poverty. You must hear preaching with great care, and you must make diligent efforts to confirm and understand what you hear to be noble (Acts 17:11)
Are you able to get up and seek the Lord early to find Him?(Proverbs 8:17)

1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Can we win a person in authority?
Wisdom penned by a brilliant king, King Solomon, for our profit.

The godly application of this wisdom will bring peace and prosperity into our life, and will exalt godly authority, by its careful and patient respect for those in positions of rule.

The main authorities in life are parents, husbands, employers, civil government, and pastors. They are moved more by patient reverence than by bold debate. Though our cause might be important and right, wisdom calls for careful and respectful appeals.

The lower we go in humility, and the higher we lift a person for his rank, the greater leverage we have with him.

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
2 Timothy 2:24

Every one of us would be wise to heed or pay attention to Solomon’s parables: Never stop learning; never cease being a student of God and His Word, for knowledge strengthens, and a man/woman of wisdom is strong. The king, ruler, president, bears the burden of leading his nation in times of war, but safety and victory goes to those who seek wise counsel.

Do we seek wisdom and counsel when facing crossroad decisions? Who are our counsellors? Do you have one? Do you hear their counsel with an open mind and heart?
You would spare yourself a lot of heartache if you sought the counsel of men and women whose lives evidence both knowledge and the wisdom of God.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8

Apply your heart to instruction
and your ears to words of knowledge.
Proverbs 23:12

Get your heart and ears into it. The desire for instruction and the willingness to hear correction are marks of greatness and virtue Pr 12:1; 13:18; Acts 17:11). Very few apply themselves to learn knowledge and wisdom. They are more interested in entertainment and fun. Study sounds far too much like work.

How attentive are your heart and ears after hearing the instruction and knowledge of this proverb? What changes will you make today? Have you read God’s word for it to instruct you and increase your knowledge? Have you asked your parents’ for advice in a matter bothering you? Can you remember what was preached last Sunday? Instruction and knowledge are precious gifts; make good use of them, for life without them is painful.

9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

We generally need help identifying our purpose and find ways to live for God’s glory. This is why being part of a church family is so important. God speaks to us through worship, refines our calling through prayer, holds us accountable through fellowship, and deploys us through service.

These activities provide the framework and functionality for us to dive deep into our purpose and draw them out in a way to please the Lord.

Let us examine ourself! Are we wiser than last year or ten years ago? Have we grown in graciousness? Are we in better financial condition by learning and applying the rules of Bible?

A godly man has great desire to grow in wisdom. And the way to increase wisdom is to hear the counsel of wise men and accept their teaching. We need to appreciate and apply instruction from others.

We, the children of God, were adopted by grace. But we were not adopted to squander our lives in folly. We were adopted to grow up and live as the sons of God in a crooked and perverse world (Matthew 6:43-48; Ephesians 5:1-2). We can waste the grace of God, or use it to be great for Him (1 Corinthians 15:10)

Our speech will either help or hurt us (Proverbs 10:14; 12:14). If you are older, it already has! Many have ruined their lives by not ruling their mouths. Others have been honored for their kind and wise tongues. Our speech will bring either blessing or cursing from both God and men, in both time and eternity. A tongue can kill or save others’ lives.

Do you love good speech or bad speech? Your future will be impacted heavily by your choice and habit.

Our words will bring death or life in this world and the next.
Jesus said,
“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37

Death and life are in your tongue. Choose life!

Successful men have great friends. Such friends are not found easily; they are a blessing from God.
Are you such a friend, or do you have such friends?

Jesus of Nazareth, reigning as King on David’s throne, is the greatest Friend. He gave His life for you; He lives to make intercession for you; He will never leave or forsake you. What a friend we have in Jesus!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

This verse encourages us to be mindful of our speech and to work diligently and ethically, knowing that what we put out into the world will return to us. For both our words and our actions have a significant impact on our lives and the world around us.

Our goal is to be like Jesus Christ. He grew in favour with God and men (Luke 2:52). His speech was gracious beyond belief (Psalm 45:2; Luke 4:22). He went about doing good (Acts 10:38).

Lord, help us to be like You. May our words and deeds reflect your love and grace.
In Your most beautiful name we pray, Amen!
