My new show Sound Check launches tomorrow with UPROXX 🥺 first episode with DaBaby then G-Eazy & Rico Nasty! I’ll be giving guests difficult music choices 2 songs at a time and by the end, hopefully I’ll know their music taste well enough to guess what their lifetime anthem is.
as much as it seems like I get emotional all the time about things lol I really don’t sit and reflect too often about how far I’ve come. But this one means a lot to me. This year marks my 10th year in music media. When I first got into this I had no idea the journey I was about to go on, all I knew is that I was leading with passion and talking about music I loved. Elliott Wilson was the editor in chief at RESPECT magazine where I was an unpaid intern in Winnipeg Canada writing music reviews and conducting phone interviews.
10 years later I get to host a show where I listen to music with the biggest celebrities in the world and force them to make some difficult decisions about music. And I host a weekly show alongside Elliott who at one point seemed so far away to reach.
My younger self would be proud but so is myself today. There will be people who will say “where did he come from?” After more success, and just like I went off about being able to go back and look at Doechii’s come up, I know there’s a kid out there who’s been watching my journey the whole way and will do the same for me. You can simply scroll down. It’s an honor and I don’t take these opportunities for granted.
I’m extremely grateful to the UPROXX team for believing in me and trusting my vision and craft and for all of the people it took to make this show happen. The best team in the game. And I truly mean that.
Just know, we’re only getting started.
