January 7, 2024 is historic as it marks the first win of an Indigenous person for a Golden Globe. Lily, all of Indigenous country is so proud of you. Your incredible and compelling performance is well deserved.

Your acceptance speech was heartfelt and the words you shared so vital for Indigenous artists and cinema.

“I'm so grateful that I can speak even a little bit of my language, which I'm not fluent enough up here. Because in this business, Native actors used to speak their lines in English and then the sound mixers would run them backwards to accomplish Native languages on camera. This is an historic win, it doesn't belong to just me. I'm holding it with all of my beautiful sisters. And this is for every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream, who is seeing themselves represented in our stories, told by ourselves, in our own words, with tremendous allies and tremendous trust.”

Yay so happy I woke up to this awesome news! Thank you so much everyone for voting “Why do I love you” to #1 on the This song was written by Jim Lauderdale,and produced,and mixed by Dewayne Strobel,who also played the guitars. Peter Keys on keys,Drums by Mark Beckett,and the bass was played by our dear friend the late great Dave Roe,this was actually one of the last pieces of music we worked on with him. The incredible backgrounds were done by and it was mastered by the great Benny Quinn! I’m so thankful to these incredible musicians for putting so much soul into this track,and making it what it is!
This was the last single off my Billboard charting album “Midnight Blues”,and the perfect end to that chapter. Thank you for all your support,new music coming in 2024! Also thank you to the Indigenous music countdown,for all the support you give to Indigenous artists ♥️ #1
