We are, Patty’s Pony Place. We began our business in 2011 with imported carts and harnesses. In March of 2012, Kelly designed and built his first carriage, and he has continued from that point on to introduce more ingenuity into the design of miniature horse carts and carriages than has been seen in the industry for a very long time. His traditional knowledge of horses, combined with his knowledge of suspension, and basic safety concepts, were all key to what he builds. He developed knock-down shafts for safe winter sledding - bolt-on suspensions for steel EE carts, I (Patty) have taken the lines on many fronts - learning upholstery in short order, manning the website and the now, three FB pages I have. I have done all the photography, and videography for the past three years now, and a bit of a designer in my own right, creating some pretty fun outfits for my Tonk, and developing a skijoring harness that has led to all sorts of wonderful things, including almost four million video views. We have both been working with horses for the greater part of our lives - Kelly with many years with draft horses, learning from the men who had worked with them all of their lives. Myself, flat racing as a youth, gymkhana, and pleasure riding, and spending 10 years learning all I could about the Tellington-Jones Equine Awareness Method - then learning how to drive from Kelly. Our history is traditional knowledge - that is also our “credentials” - along with our innate respect of the horse, and the “joy” aspect of having them in our lives. These two things are the base of what we design, and what we promote. Traditional knowledge - the laws of physics as pertaining to the working ability of the horse, and finally, to help people develop a calm, rational approach to driving.
