After nearly 18 years in the business, KGDJ will be ceasing operations in 2023.
I started doing DJ work back in 2003 when I was still in high school. Frankly, it was never about the DJing. I was surrounded by amazing DJ artists my whole life and was never able to truly put the effort in to become one of them. For me, it was about the gear, about knowing it in a way that I could walk into a venue and people would be amazed. I took the business on the road with me when I moved to BC in 2009 and Victoria really made me what I am today.
I did gigs for way less money than I should have, but I had fun. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
I'm fortunate enough to have moved on to a point in my career where I don't need KGDJ anymore, at least as a way to make money. I will mourn it, though. It has been something I built and even though it has substantially changed over the decades, it was still mine and I made it.
To all my friends, family, and (most of all) my clients, thank you. You helped me, and I hope I managed make some memories for you.
