Best acting and best screenwriting award winners. What a treat to share the stage with the great Lou Diamond Phillips. His new film "Et Tu" sounds incredible, has a 9.0 rating on imdb, and won best horror and best picture at L.A. IFS Film Festival. I won runner-up best feature screenplay, with Cuernavaca.

I must have seen Young Guns at least ten times as a kid. I also was an editor on a Lou Diamond Phillips movie 15 years ago, called Angel and the Bad Man, with Luke Perry and Deborah Unger– I cut the trailer, EPK and promos– but of course didn't get to meet him then, so this was a really special moment for me.

ANOTHER WIN. Out of the 10 screenwriting contests I've heard back from, 7 have given it an award. Not sure how many baseball fans are reading this, but I'd say batting .700 ain't bad. This Texas-based coming of age story about a messed up kid struggling with loss, belonging and identity is performing especially well in Southern festivals. Now wish me luck in the next 10 contests, and in searching for $10-million to actually produce it.

Hope you're not sick of me yet. I won my first actual award for Best (Unproduced) Feature Screenplay. What do you think of the concept art? Keeping it mysterious. This movie dives deeply into the darkness to find the light.
