All good things must come to an end. It is with a heavy heart and a lot of sadness that we must announce that Temple of Mystery Records is closing down its doors.
The idea to start a label was ignited in 2011, when François and Annick (myself) were traveling the world. Later on that year, we visited a Taoist temple in the picturesque town of Suzhou, China called Temple of Mystery (Xuanmiao) and decided it would be a perfect name for our label… a temple holding mysterious metal secrets! Our very first release was our band Cauchemar’s first full-length album, Tenebrario, on cassette in 2013, which was followed by Night Gaunt’s Jupiter’s Fall as a 7inch vinyl. The rest is history!
We are absolutely proud of every single release we did during our short life, and especially delighted to see bands grow into what they are today.
We want to especially thank our dear friends in Pagan Altar, who trusted us to release their 2017 album ‘The Room of Shadows’, which put us on the map and enabled us to release many amazing albums (among them gorgeous reissues of their entire discography!)
Despite our efforts of having our new releases available in a warehouse in Europe, and trying to keep our prices as low as possible, we are facing major challenges which are getting impossible to deal with as a small (hobby) label located in Canada. We had to take the heartbreaking decision to gracefully pull-out and close our doors.
Hundreds of you have supported us over the years, and distributed our records; we want to thank you so much for your encouragement. We are very sorry to let you down, and especially all the artists that were hoping to one day, have an album on our label. I hope someone new will take over the reins in Canada, and will bring fresh blood to this extremely active scene!!
We will having a large sale starting this Friday, September 22nd. The temple will be closing its doors completely before the end of the year.

Toutes les bonnes choses ont une fin. C'est avec le cœur lourd et beaucoup de tristesse que nous devons vous annoncer que les disques Temple of Mystery (T.O.M.) ferme ses portes.
L’idée de créer un label est née en 2011, alors que François et Annick (moi-même) parcourions le monde. Plus t**d cette année-là , nous avons visité un temple taoïste appelé Temple du Mystère (Xuanmiao) dans la ville pittoresque de Suzhou, en Chine, et avons décidé que ce serait un nom parfait pour notre maison de disques… un temple détenant de mystérieux secrets! Notre toute première sortie était le premier album de notre groupe Cauchemar, Tenebrario, sur cassette en 2013, qui a été suivi par Jupiter's Fall de Night Gaunt en vinyle 7 pouces en 2016.
Nous sommes absolument fiers de chaque album que nous avons réalisé au cours de notre courte vie, et particulièrement enchantés de voir les groupes devenir ce qu'ils sont aujourd'hui.
Nous tenons particulièrement à remercier nos chers amis de Pagan Altar, qui nous ont fait confiance pour sortir en 2017, leur superbe album 'The Room of Shadows'. Cette sortie nous a mis sur la carte et nous a permis de sortir de nombreux albums incroyables (parmi lesquels de magnifiques rééditions de l'intégralité de leur discographie!)
Malgré nos efforts pour que nos nouvelles sorties soient disponibles dans un entrepôt en Europe et pour essayer de maintenir nos prix aussi bas que possible, nous sommes confrontés à des défis majeurs qui deviennent impossibles à relever en tant que micro-label situé au Canada. Nous avons dû prendre la décision déchirante de nous retirer gracieusement.
Des centaines d'entre vous nous ont soutenus au fil des années et ont distribué nos disques ; nous tenons à vous remercier infiniment de vos encouragements. Nous sommes vraiment désolés de vous décevoir, et surtout de tous les artistes qui espéraient avoir un jour un album sur notre label. J'espère que quelqu'un de nouveau prendra les rênes au Canada, et apportera du sang frais à notre belle scène!
Nous aurons une grande vente à partir de vendredi prochain, le 22 septembre. Le temple fermera complètement ses portes avant la fin de l'année.

By the third trip through the grave haze, I was pretty impressed with what this young act was able to stitch together from the cadavers of the past. It’s just different enough to sound freshly deceased, so if you love OSDM with extra worms and fungus. this could be your rancid summer treat. I can’t seem to stop spinning it and I’m going blood crazy in the heat."
