Since 2006, Polaris has been celebrating the best of Canadian music by commissioning incredible "gig" posters inspired by nominated albums. We've worked with over 200 talented artists to create unique artworks. And now, we're inviting YOU to be part of this amazing initiative! 🖼️
The Polaris Shortlist will be announced on July 13, and for each of the 10 shortlisted albums, we'll assign a visual artist to create a stunning 18 x 24 inch poster. It's your chance to showcase your artistic talent on a national platform! 🌟
To be considered as a poster artist, simply send us a web link or a PDF with samples of your existing artwork. We'll carefully select 10 artists to join our prestigious program.
A few important details:
📆 Application Deadline: 12 pm ET, Friday, June 30, 2023.
🖌️ If selected, Final Artwork Deadline: 12 pm ET, Friday, July 28, 2023.
Don't worry, if you're chosen, we'll notify you on Friday, July 14, 2023. Then, we'll provide all the necessary information about artwork requirements, production specifications, and a formal agreement. Exciting, isn't it? 💌
But wait, there's more! Your poster design might even be selected for a mural in downtown Toronto, courtesy of the Downtown Yonge BIA. If that happens, you'll receive additional compensation.
And speaking of compensation, we want to recognize your talent and hard work. Here's what we offer:
💸 $300+HST flat fee for the artwork.
🖼️ You retain ownership of your work.
🖨️ 5 screen prints from the limited edition run of 44.
🌐 You'll be credited as the artist with links to your website, whenever and wherever possible.
We believe in the power of diversity and inclusion. We encourage artists from all backgrounds to apply, especially those from under-represented groups. We want to hear from women, Black and Indigenous People of Colour (BIPOC), other racialized persons, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.
