The Louden Singletree It is a non-profit journal, funded by the Student Union Society, and by donation. Or, check out our latest edition online!

The Louden Singletree’s mission is to assemble the best literature and visual art from the University of the Fraser Valley, which includes submissions from students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Created in 2008, the Louden Singletree is a student-based initiative, run each year by a small student editorial board with the support and guidance of the English Department. The editorial board aspires to

represent the voice of this emerging creative community. Each year the student team strives to extend the magazine’s reach into the local communities to produce a fuller, more dynamic publication. In this respect, the Louden Singletree has been a tool to continue the literary dialogue at UFV and at large. The magazine solicits works with unique insight, looking for original perspectives and evocative language. Poetry, short-stories, flash-fiction, creative non-fiction as well as visual art are accepted by the magazine, which embraces a wide-variety of genres and styles while maintaining a high standard of excellence. Copies of the most recent issue of the Louden Singletree can be obtained in the library on the Abbotsford or Chilliwack campuses, at no cost. Or at UFV's official website:
http://www.ufv.ca/english/louden-singletree-literary-magazine/

NOTE: We are now accepting literature and visual art submissions. Please read our submission guidelines to format your work before submitting it. Any submissions not following the format provided will not be considered for publication. Submission deadline is December 6, 2016.

Our next feature piece is "The Loon Song" by Alyssa White. Alyssa White is in her second year of UFV. She is studying Kinesiology and Creative Writing. She aspires to publish motivational books, and work in a coaching position to help others reach their goals and become their best selves. Alyssa has had a love for reading since childhood, which sparked her passion for creative writing. Her favourite genres to write are creative non-fiction and poetry, because she likes the freedom and level of creativity that they offer to speak to issues that matter to her. She is very grateful for the opportunity to be published in the Louden Singletree.

Today's fitting feature piece is "Bubbles Big and Bubbles Small" by Scott McQuarrie. Scott McQuarrie is not an author—to be an author, you must have a published book, and while he has written a book, it is not yet published. If you are a literary agent looking for upper middle-grade fantasy, Scott would like to talk to you about an as yet undiscovered gem of a manuscript.

Check back tomorrow for our next feature piece, and click the link in our bio to read Issue 13 in full! 😊

For today's feature piece we have "Spring" by Sequel Adamson.
Sequel Adamson is in her third year at UFV. Sequel only writes when angry. She has a very short temper, so she writes often. Her other talents include crying when overwhelmed, hitting every pothole while driving, and making a mean black forest cake.
