A passion for podcasting, a love of stories

The Let’s Talk Show podcast started with IGTV. At the time, I was looking to step back into the podcasting world after taking my previous podcast, Toronto Story Archive, on indefinite hiatus almost a year earlier. The advent of IGTV was an opportunity to take my passion for Speaking to a whole new medium through a series of selfie style videos delivering tips on how to improve public speaking and professional communication skills, with the eventual goal of bringing guests to the show to talk about their unique, industry-based experiences with professional communication.

Over time, as the IGTV show — first called “Talking Speaking” and then, soon after, “Let’s Talk Speaking”, continued — my love for the world of podcasting overcame my interest in the new video-based channel; and so we moved Let’s Talk Speaking back to the world of Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and Stitcher.

As more guests joined the show we ran into another challenge; with every new and interesting guest the connection of their story to speaking and communication grew more and more tenuous. The guests themselves were engaging, exciting, and entertaining — but many of their experiences had little to do directly with the world of communication, per-se. At this point we realized that our mandate as it then stood was a little too restrictive and that we could benefit from expanding our focus, and giving ourselves permission to reach out to any and every guest doing something cool in their industry.

And so, The Let’s Talk Show was born.
