BREAKING: Officials at Air Canada say they are slashing six major routes out of Calgary this winter. They say it is in part due to an industry-wide pilot shortage. The country’s biggest airline says it will no longer offer non stop flights from Calgary to Ottawa, Halifax, Los Angeles, Honolulu, or Frankfurt as of the end of October. Officials say the industry wide shortage of regional pilots is expected to have a prolonged impact. Air Canada also says they are running into supply chain problems making it more difficult for the airline to obtain parts and complete airplane maintenance on time.

Lethbridge Police are issuing a public warning after discovering candy-bear shaped fentanyl in Galt Gardens. On June 20th a member of the Downtown Policing Unit located a bag on the east side of the park. Inside was a small quantity of suspected fentanyl coloured greenish-blue in a bear shape that could be mistaken for candy. The container holding the bear also included suspected fentanyl pieces in other colours. Authorities sent the substance away for analysis and it was determined the bear contains fentanyl, bromazolen, and caffeine. Police have not since located any additional fentanyl bears, nor have there been any further reports. LPS says using bright colours or molds to create certain shapes is not uncommon in the illicit production of fentanyl. Anyone who locates a suspicious substance is advised not to touch it and immediately call police at 403-328-4444.
