Finding joy and satisfaction in small, simple moments - especially in nature - feels so necessary in my body right now. And what about finding joy in how I am contributing to climate solutions? Yes, I am finding those moments too.
In the latest Plugged In Podcast episode, Jinhwa Hwong Ambrose shares how we can each discover our own unique joyful experience and “thread” in the beautiful diverse tapestry of climate solutions we need.
It’s a refreshing, practical, creative and supportive approach to thinking about climate action. "Getting this right feels very hard, but what actually feels quite easy to me is carving out the small spaces where we are creating that which we would like to see at the larger scale,” explains Jinhwa.
Jinhwa offers workshops based on the Climate Action Venn diagram created by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson - a framework that helps us match our skills, passions and what brings us joy and delight with the climate solutions that we need.
“There is urgency, and we are humans with nervous systems. If we only run and act from a place of urgency, I think we make worse choices.”
Drawing inspiration from Ayana Elizabeth Johnson , adrienne maree brown, Rebecca Solnit, and Deepa Iyer, Jinhwa’s discussion on Finding Joy in Climate Solutions ignites our imagination, encouraging an exploration of the diverse ways we can each engage in climate and justice solutions. While acknowledging that the urgency and crises we find ourselves in are hard on our nervous systems.
“I hope to help people see all the agency that they have in this moment, and to find a sense of efficacy; that their actions matter and often in quite a unique way.”
