Revisiting old favourites ~ A snapshot from 's photo essay, On the Pilgrimage Road.

"As I was leaving his hut, I asked Monk Etsudo if I could take his picture and he immediately posed next to his dōjō’s sign." - Yolanta C. Siu

Meet the team behind the mag! Originally from Transylvania, Romania, Luana Suciu () is a designer and art director currently living in Singapore. Moving between 5 countries and 3 continents in the past 15 years, Luana has often found herself out of place, embracing a feeling of curiosity and adventure which fuels her creative work. When she’s not designing, Luana enjoys documenting her surroundings, and is always looking for the simple and unfamiliar to be captured on camera.

We started planning our Out of Place issue before the pandemic, and reading the magazine now, it seems to offer a necessary moment to pause and contemplate past travels, even (and especially) the uncomfortable moments. How have you been reflecting on your past journeys?
A recent (pre-pandemic) visit to India for a wedding left writer Dhvani Ramanujam wanting to know more about why she was never taught Tulu, her mother's native language: "As a child, I never questioned why I wasn’t taught my mother’s language. My parents’ common language was English and so it was the only one I knew." Read the whole story in our newest issue. Out now!
Meet the team behind the mag! ✨ Erin Pehlivan is the founding editor of Return Trip. When she’s not working as a writer and editor in Toronto, she spends her time reading too many books, practicing karaoke at home, and probably trying to learn new languages. These days, she misses Japan 🇯🇵 Turkey 🇹🇷 Ireland 🇮🇪 and Sweden 🇸🇪 the most.
Our new issue — Out of Place — has officially launched, and copies are selling fast! Get one today at http://returntrip.ca/issuetwo. If you already pre-ordered, thank you x100. You'll be getting yours mailed to you soon 😊
