Everyone at Screen Siren Pictures would like to honor the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair and send our condolences to his family.

He lived an extraordinary life- not only was he a father of five, but he was a lawyer, the first Indigenous judge in Manitoba, a Senator and the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

Mr. Sinclair literally changed the course of Canadian History with the TRC by documenting the history and lasting impacts of the Canadian Indian residential school system on Indigenous people and revealing those impacts to “the Canadians who have been kept in the dark from these matters.”

The resulting 94 "calls to action" changed school curricula, broadcasting…so many things and certainly changed the way we do business by turning our focus to supporting Indigenous storytellers and filmmakers.

We are deeply humbled and honoured that Mr. Sinclair supported our projects and provided sage advice. It was a privilege to meet with him and to have him host a screening in Ottawa.

Rest in Power Murray, we are a better nation because of you and will continue to be inspired by you.
