On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we would like to pause and reflect on the profound stories of Indigenous survivors of the residential school system and the memories of those who tragically never made it home. Our commitment to changing the conversation is deeply rooted in amplifying unique voices and fostering emerging talent.

As storytellers, we recognize the power of narratives to heal, educate, and inspire change Today, we honor the resilience, strength, and spirit of Indigenous communities and pledge to continue sharing stories that shed light on the truths of our shared history.

As Pride Month comes to a close this week, we'd like to take a moment to reflect. Screen Siren Pictures believes in the power of storytelling to inspire change, challenge stereotypes, and foster understanding. We are proud to have been a part of projects that showcase diverse voices and narratives, spreading love, acceptance, and empathy to audiences worldwide. Pride Month is a time to honor the rich tapestry of LGBTQ2S+ identities and experiences. It's a moment to remember those who fought for equality, celebrate the progress we've made, and acknowledge the work that still lies ahead.

We stand with our LGBTQ2S+ community, as allies, advocates, and storytellers. We recognize the importance of amplifying q***r voices, both in front of and behind the camera. Every story deserves to be heard, and every love story deserves to be shared with the world.

Pride Month may be coming to an end, but our commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and acceptance remains unwavering. Together, let's create a world where every person's story is celebrated, cherished, and respected.

Today, we come together to honor and commemorate the rich cultural heritage, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.

At Screen Siren Pictures, we are incredibly privileged to collaborate with talented Indigenous filmmakers, cast and crew, and everyone who has contributed to the unique stories we have had the honour of sharing on the big screen. On this special day, we want to recognize their extraordinary work in showcasing the beauty, strength, and diversity of Indigenous cultures.

From gripping narratives that shed light on historical truths to thought-provoking documentaries that amplify contemporary issues, they challenge us to reflect, learn, and grow. They are the storytellers who inspire us, challenge us, and help bridge gaps in understanding.

Today, we encourage everyone to seek out and support Indigenous films, documentaries, and web series. Let's amplify their voices and celebrate their artistry not only on this day but every day throughout the year.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Iain Speirs, founder of I Love First Peoples and One Better World Collective, who sadly passed away last week. His love for Bones of Crows was genuinely astronomical and we will miss his passion and dedication.

Iain's tireless work to support Indigenous communities through I Love First Peoples has provided the opportunity for healing across countless lives. Iain's work as our National Tour Director in Western Canada during our community screenings not only gave Indigenous communities the chance to see the film, but also provided comfort and assistance in their journey towards healing.

"It’s unique to meet someone like Iain Speirs who led with his heart to create change through action. Very grateful for his commitment to Bones of Crows and for the kindness and love he gave to our performers and communities as they brought our film to audiences across Canada. Sending love to his family and many friends." - Marie Clements, Bones of Crows Writer/Director

We invite you to visit a GoFundMe page (linked below) raising money to support Iain's partner, Josee, during this difficult time. All donations regardless of dollar amount are greatly appreciated. Iain will be dearly missed.

05/05/2023

Today, we stand in solidarity and remembrance as we observe the National Day of Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ People (Red Dress Day)

In the spirit of this day, we invite you to join us in shedding light on the heart-wrenching reality faced by Indigenous women, who continue to go missing or become victims of violence at alarming rates. It's crucial that we bring attention to their stories, honor their lives, and demand justice.

We recognize the importance of amplifying Indigenous voices and shedding light on the systemic issues that contribute to these tragedies. Through films such as Bones of Crows, we hope to inspire dialogue, empathy, and action towards a future where every Indigenous woman feels safe, valued, and protected.

Today, we remember and honor the countless Indigenous women and girls who are missing or have lost their lives. We offer our deepest condolences to their families and communities, standing beside them in their fight for justice and healing.
