A Look Inside Good Thief
Good Thief is inspired by ‘nhậu’, a Vietnamese way of eating and drinking that embraces the laidback fun of snacking and sipping with friends and family.
“We’re building to last,” says co-founder Amelie Nguyen. “Everything is intentional; everything is meant to be a tribute to where we come from.”
Guests enter Good Thief through lush, velvety curtains, and are greeted by a spectacular green quartzite bar dressed in warm woods and brushed brass. The lighting, custom-made by a local designer, incorporates fabric that Nguyen hand-picked from a market in Vietnam.

ICYMI Last Thursday the British Columbia Achievement Foundation celebrated four winners at the Sam Carter Awards in Applied Arts and Design. The program recognizes excellence among artists who contribute to B.C.’s cultural economy, and many alumni—including Douglas Coupland, John Fluevog (John Fluevog Shoes) and Marie Khouri Sculpture—were there to celebrate this year’s winners. (Our VP of Content, Anicka Quin, served as a jury member for this year’s awards program.) Broadcast live from the Roundhouse Community Centre, jewellery designer Meghan Weeks took home the Judson Beaumont Emerging Artist award, while contemporary ceramics artist Robin Dupont and renowned artist and fashion designer Himikalas Pam Baker were both celebrated established artists. And furniture maker and artist Brent Comber Originals (also a longtime judge of our Designers of the Year awards, and a past WL Designer of the Year himself) received the Award of Distinction for lifetime achievement. Huge congrats to all of this year’s winners!
