We are EXCITED to announce that Photon Films’ newest title Ernest Cole: Lost and Found will be making its North American Premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival!

Directed by Raoul Peck and narrated by LaKeith Stanfield, the documentary follows Ernest Cole, a South African photographer was the first to expose the horrors of apartheid to a world audience. His book House of Bo***ge, published in 1967 when he was only 27 years old, led him into exile in NYC and Europe for the rest of his life, never to find his bearings.

Raoul Peck recounts his wanderings, his turmoil as an artist and his anger, on a daily basis, at the silence or complicity of the Western world in the face of the horrors of the Apartheid regime. He also recounts how, in 2017, 60,000 negatives of his work were discovered in the safe of a Swedish bank.

Raoul Peck’s search for the soul of overlooked artist Ernest Cole, is nestled in an international thriller, delving into the complexities of race through his timeless imagery.

Happy to announce that Photon Films has secured Canadian distribution for Ant Timpson’s newest film BOOKWORM and has been selected to be the Opening Night Film at this year’s Fantasia Festival in Montreal! Timpson’s latest feature stars Elijah Wood, Michael Smiley and Nell Fisher.

11 year old Mildred’s world is turned upside-down when her estranged father, the washed-up magician Strawn Wise comes to look after her and agrees to take her camping to find a mythological beast known as the Canterbury Panther.

The screening will take place at the Concordia Hall Cinema on Thursday, July 18! Tickets and more info on the screening to be announced…
