So productive, and that freshly baked chocolate croissant was 🤤.
Thanks to everyone who came out for Frazzled & Fabulous this morning! Ready to do it all over again November 29 @thewallcoffeeroasters?
It was an accident, but maybe it was a good thing…
Backstory: when I’m running out the door to drop my kiddos off at school, I often have 1/2 a cup of coffee left to drink. Instead of letting it get cold, I just bring it with me. 😅 #dontjudgeme
So my coffee cup is sitting 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐟 the cup holders as we are all loading in (because no, it doesn’t sit nicely in there). My brain sees my daughter’s backpack coming toward the cup and thinks, “Oh no! It’s going to spill.”
In a panic, I reach for the cup to grab it out of the way and end up knocking it over and spilling it everywhere. 🤦♀️
Did her backpack end up coming anywhere near it? No. It did not.
In this moment I had a realization - this is often what we do in our businesses. We imagine a terrible scenario happening and act to try and prevent it, and in turn we end up creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
💲You’re afraid that raising your prices will drive customers away, so you keep prices low. This leads to undervaluing your services and attracting price-sensitive clients who aren’t ideal for your business.
😬 You hold off on sharing that new product because you’re worried it isn’t perfect. Meanwhile, someone else takes the leap and shares their product that isn’t nearly as awesome and people love it.
🤐 You’re worried that following up with a client about an outstanding invoice will upset them so you go radio silent. Meanwhile your busy client notices that there is an overdue bill and is frustrated that you didn’t communicate it to them, causing tension.
🙈 You avoid networking events because you’re worried you aren’t “good enough” at what you do to be putting yourself out there. But never making new connections means you aren’t able to grow your business and get those new opportunities to learn!
What if instead, we approached these situations with curiosity and optimism?
Let’s choose to “spill our coffee” on purpo
Summer in Alberta is a fleeting thing, so I’m pushing pause to soak it up. See you back here on Wednesday! ✌️
Last week I got to create content with a client and this is how I prepped…
This client is an ongoing one of mine, so we had already done a strategy session to determine what we were going to film and photograph. If this was a new client, that’s where we would’ve started.
Once I knew what goals we wanted to achieve, I came up with a combination of trending reels and cinematic reels for us to capture. I put them all on my Notion database and broke each one down into an individual shot list.
I check in with my photographer and get her shot list, too, and then I create sticky notes for each shot I want to capture and line them up in order on my board.
This makes it so much easier during the content creation session for the client, my photographer, and myself to stay on the same page and know where we are at.
After that, I gather all my props (gimbal, phone, ring, lights, and any additional props we are using).
Then the only thing left to do is show up and have fun creating 🔥 content.
If I’m completely honest, I always feel nervous ahead of a content shoot 😅 because you just never know how it’s going to go. But every single time they wind up being so fun and the content that comes out of them is awesome.

Content Creation Prep
I’m kind of particular, and I love any opportunity to organize things.
So OF COURSE when I’m prepping for a client Content Creation day I break our reels down into individual shots, colour code them, and print them out on sticky notes. 😉
It really streamlines the process and helps my client, the photographer I work with (@heartheldphotography 😘), and myself all stay on the same page.
Content Creation days leave my clients with complete reels they can post on their social accounts, b-roll video they can use, and professional photos. Such an efficient use of time!
Interested in booking one for yourself? Send me a message. 😉

Of course I check my client’s insights more often than I check my email. 👀

A few facts about me. 🫶
Tell me something about YOU!
Tip No. 15: You CAN change the plan.
You could interpret this tip however you would like to. The bottom line is, you need to make sure YOU are running your SM accounts and not letting the accounts run you.
❌ If you need to take a break from social media, take it.
🗣️ If you really want to post only talking head videos (you talking to the camera) for a month, try it out.
💻 If you want to create pretty graphics and post those exclusively, do it!
Yes, there are strategies and tactics that are more successful than others and I would still encourage you to test your content, monitor it, and then pivot accordingly. But when it comes right down to it what people really want to see is personality.
Authenticity will always win out, so do your thing. 😉
