The Yukon Avalanche Association and SnowShoot Productions are offering a free course to introduce beginner snowmobilers to travel and recreation in the backcountry.

WHAT: The courses will focus on travelling in simple terrain and getting to know how the avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel work. Safety is the utmost priority for these outings therefore every measure will be taken to ensure participants safety and comfort during the course.

WHERE: Fraser Customs @ The White Pass

WHEN: Sunday April 3rd (10:30-2:30) for all levels interested.

WHY: Because it’s FREE and you need these skills in the backcountry!

The South Klondike Highway will remain closed on Sunday as crews continue to clean wet slides off the highway after another day of very warm temperatures.

The South Klondike Highway will be closed today. North winds remain strong and are loading the new snow.

Continuing strong winds and snow loading are forecast for the South Klondike Highway. As a precaution the highway will be closed tonight between the Alaska Border and the gates at Carcross. Closure will be in effect from 8pm - 8am(Yukon time). H&PW will reassess in the morning and may keep the road closed longer than that if conditions warrant.
Please do not travel on the highway after 8pm.
