“There is nothing greater facing humanity than the challenge of climate change.” said Christina Jennings, Chairman and President, Shaftesbury. “As leaders in the industry, we can force change. For the last two years, Shaftesbury has pushed this agenda at Murdoch Mysteries and are starting to see positive results. In 2024, we are committing to extend this initiative across all of our productions – whether on screen examples or behind the scenes efficiencies. We look to our fellow industry partners to join us in this urgent initiative.”

We are a coalition of Canadian independent media producers who are making a commitment to act on climate change.

"The key to Murdoch’s longstanding popularity? It’s secretly sexy. It’s not just about brooding, troubled detectives, but people and relationships. It’s lovely and layered. This all makes it more human and relatable, and gets you on a deeper level.”

Well into its 17th season, Murdoch Mysteries is the most-watched Canadian scripted series in the country, and has been the No. 1 entertainment program on CBC TV for the past nine years

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Norman Jewison. Norman was a fiercely proud Canadian; and, although he went on to achieve global acclaim, Canada was always in his heart,” added Christina Jennings, Chair, CFC Board of Directors and Chairman & President, Shaftesbury. “He was determined that Canada show the world the breadth of our creative talent, and that passion drove him to create the CFC. There, he helped shape and foster some of the brightest and most promising filmmakers, actors, writers, directors and producers from across the country. I can truly say that the CFC launched my career and for that I say - thank you Norman. The film world has lost a legendary director. And, Canada has lost a great man. We offer our deepest condolences to Lynne, his family and loved ones.”
