The Grand River in Kitchener. Waterloo Region’s longest trail, the Walter Bean Trail, spans 76 kilometers, winding through Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Woolwich Township. Open year-round, the trail offers diverse experiences for hikers, cyclists, snowshoers, and more. We’re fortunate to live near several stunning sections, and this weekend, we had the chance to explore a few miles of a new stretch for the first time.

Today we stepped back in time to visit the iconic Dundurn Castle in Hamilton, ON 🏰 This beautifully restored 19th-century mansion lets you experience life as it was in the 1850s.

Guided tours share the stories of Sir Allan MacNab and his family, as well as the staff who worked behind the scenes to keep this Victorian home running. In total the home has 40 rooms that allow you to take in the stunning architecture. Before or after your tour you can explore the lush gardens surrounding the estate. 🌿. Today there was a wedding on the property!

✨ Perfect for history buffs, families, and anyone looking for a unique day out! We also like visiting around the holidays when the house if dressed up for Christmas.

Whirlpool State Park. View the rapids from above or hike down a trail to explore the waterfront. Incredible views all around. Highly recommend as a stop if you’re in the Area.

🅿️ Parking is free! The lot is very close to the trail with lots of spots.
🚽Washrooms in the visitor Center
🧺Picnic tables available if you would like to bring lunch.
🚶The upper trail is stroller friendly.

Yesterday we visited the Strong National Museum of Play in If you have little ones and you’re planning to visit the area we highly recommend this museum. They have included a ton of interactive play for kids including climbers, a ropes course and life size versions of all your favorite games.
